Byeon Woo Seok’s agency has taken legal action to protect the actor.
On November 15, Varo Entertainment announced that it had recently filed a criminal complaint against malicious posts and comments about Byeon Woo Seok.
The agency’s full statement is as follows:
Hello.
This is Varo Entertainment.
We would like to thank all the fans who give actor Byeon Woo Seok their love and interest.
Recently, Varo Entertainment decided that in order to protect the rights of our actor Byeon Woo Seok, we could no longer ignore the malicious slander and insults being made against Byeon Woo Seok, and we took legal action. We are updating you on the related proceedings.
Based on our agency’s own monitoring and reports made by fans, we confirmed the situation regarding malicious criminal acts related to our actor. Therefore, we gathered sufficient evidence regarding criminal acts such as hate posts and comments that included malicious slander, defamation of character, sexual harassment, and the spreading of falsehoods. Then, after a legal review, we filed a criminal complaint against the perpetrators in question through a legal representative.
Writing posts or comments that include malicious slander and insults or spread groundless falsehoods is a clear criminal act and is grounds for legal action. Our agency will not sit back and watch such criminal acts [occur], and we will respond with strong legal action, without any settlements or leniency, so that they can receive just punishment.
Once again, we are letting you know that Varo Entertainment will continue to regularly monitor and take legal action against malicious criminal acts against our actors, and we will do our utmost to protect our actors’ rights and honor in the future as well.
