'Cobra Kai' Season Six Trailer Reveals End of Decades-Long Karate Saga
The new 'Cobra Kai' Season Six trailer features longtime rivals Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) and Johnny Lawerence (William Zabka) turned teammates.
Five Episodes Left
The sixth and final season debuted in three parts, with the final section releasing Feb. 13
Itâs been about 40 years since the 1984 All Valley Karate Tournament in The Karate Kid. In Season Six of Cobra Kai, which released it flashback-filled trailer Monday, longtime rivals Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) and Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka) set aside their long-standing resentment to take things back to the mat where it all began.
The sixth and final season debuted in three parts: Part one released on July 18, part two released on Nov. 28, and the final part will release Feb. 13. After Cobra Kaiâs elimination from the Valley in Season Five, Daniel and Johnny decide to merge their dojos, after some bickering. Daniel and Johnnyâs Miyagi-Do heads to Barcelona for the Sekai Taikai, an international karate competition, that ends in a brawl and the death of Cobra Kaiâs Kwon Jae-Sung, played by Brandon H. Lee. In the final part to Season Six, Miyagi-Do and Cobra Kai must reckon with their past and their future, on and off the mat.
Along with Macchio and Zabka, the Season Six cast includes Martin Kove as John Kreese, Xolo Maridueña as Miguel Diaz, Jacob Bertrand as Hawk, Mary Mouser as Samantha LaRusso, Tanner Buchanan as Robby Keene, Peyton List as Tory, and Gianni Decenzo as Demetri. Reflecting on Karate Kid fanboys and Cobra Kai creators Jon Hurwitz, Josh Heald, and Hayden Schlossberg, Macchio told Rolling Stone in 2020 what it was like returning to the martial arts-focused franchise.
âIt felt like these guys can marry todayâs teen dialogue with yesterdayâs nostalgia and make it feel all fresh,â Macchio said. âBut jumping in, I didnât know how cold that water was, how deep it was. Billy Zabka, the same way. It was tough.â
