Donald Trump's ally Steve Bannon took the stage at the Conservative Political Action Conference — and raised some alarm bells from onlookers with his remarks.
Bannon, no stranger to making eyebrow-raising comments, told attendees of the right-wing event the "future of MAGA is Donald J. Trump!"
He paused as attendees cheered, before continuing, "We want Trump in '28! That's what they can't stand! A man like Trump comes along only once or twice in a country's history. Right? We want Trump! We want Trump! We want Trump!"
His comments quickly gained criticism from onlookers, as presidents have been limited to two terms for more than half a century.

"Watch this clip, folks," wrote independent journalist Aaron Rupar. "Does Bannon sound like he's joking about Trump becoming dictator for life? Because he isn't."
"Love it. Never takes off the barn jacket. He’s not stayin long. He’s just here to make a permanent president with a chant," wrote Luke Zaleski, legal affairs editor at Condé Nast.
"Stop calling it conservatism. This isn’t conservatism, this is insanity," blasted author Jennifer Erin Valent.
Matt O'Brien, a former economics reporter at the Washington Post who now authors the "Obsolete Dogma" newsletter, warned, "I think there’s about a 40% chance the Supreme Court would say the 22nd amendment wouldn’t stop Trump from running in 2028 just like they said the 14th amendment didn’t stop him in 2024."
"They'll just say its up to Congress to enforce. He's obviously running," attorney Harris Peskin replied to O'Brien.
The progressive site Tennessee Holler, wrote, "BANNON: 'We want Trump in 2028!' Believe them. (Rep. Andy Ogles has already proposed a bill to enable it)."
