NATIONAL HARBOR, MD — Rep. James Comer (R-KY) was on hand at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) on Thursday, where he was gleeful about President Donald Trump's ongoing work to slash government staff despite public opposition.
"I think President Trump is doing everything right," Comer told Raw Story, ignoring sinking poll numbers.
New numbers came out this week, showing that Americans are against Trump's cuts to government. The Washington Post showed 61% against it. They all tested the policies of the new Trump administration, finding meager support.

Americans also oppose the cuts to USAID (62%). They're against Elon Musk's prominent role in government, with 54% viewing it as a “bad thing" and only 28% supporting him, according to the polls.
Comer was undeterred.
"We strongly support him, and hopefully, we can pass his agenda," said Comer, doubling down on the unpopular policies.
