'Inappropriate' messages mum sent to boy at children's home where she worked
Lindy Leah, 44, is accused of wearing "completely unsuitable clothing" which was "skin tight and highly revealing" in the boy's presence
A woman has been accused of inappropriate behaviour with a boy at a children's home where she worked. Lindy Leah, 44, allegedly wore "completely unsuitable clothing" which was "skin tight and highly revealing" in the boy's presence.
The married mum-of-two went on trial at Liverpool Crown Court yesterday (February 10), accused of inciting a child to engage in sexual activity. WhatsApp messages between the pair have been shared amid the trial.
The boy was a resident at a care home in St Helens where Leah worked, the court heard. She is said to have "fallen in love with" the teenager and told him that she would return his mobile phone to him in exchange for "a love bite", Liverpool Echo reports.

Prosecutor Simon Christie told a jury of three men and nine women: "This case concerns what the crown says is a serious and persistent breach of trust. Lindy Leah, by her own admission, fell in love with him. But the crown says that this went beyond the sort of parental love that offers care and support, and it became something more physical and inappropriate.
"[The boy] will not be giving evidence to you in this case. He does not support the prosecution. So what we have are the observations of some of those adults who witnessed Lindy Leah interact with [the boy] and who will say that her behaviour was often highly inappropriate.
"In addition, we have the downloads of many messages between the two of them, principally from WhatsApp, that paint a picture of a relationship far removed from key worker and child. There are many expressions of love in the WhatsApp messages."
Leah, of Capesthorne Road in Orford, Warrington, was said to have video footage of the teenager while he was "asleep or in bed" stored on her mobile phone. "Whether you find, cumulatively, that what was going on was sexual is a matter for you," Mr Christie added.
He continued: "The defendant will accept she was in a position of trust but will say that she did try to act more as a friend or contemporary towards [the boy] and will say that she, on occasion, acted in a non-professional way, but that this was all in a misguided attempt to protect him."
Leah was spoken to by police in June last year after concerns were raised about her behaviour. She "denied any improper behaviour" but a colleague then saw her with the boy in an Audi car at Walton Hall Park the following month having been released on bail under the condition that she cease contact with him.
Her co-workers were "greatly concerned" by the defendant "frequently" wearing "completely unsuitable clothing" which was "skin tight and highly revealing", the court heard. This included Leah wearing a "bodysuit without underwear" and "highly visible thongs".
A member of staff recalled her telling the boy: "I've had a shower but I forgot to bring clean knickers" on one occasion. She was then said to have "pulled up her bodysuit" in a revealing manner before stating: "Oh, you can see my nipples."
A fellow manager reported seeing the boy "lying in Lindy Leah's bed at the home". She allegedly responded: "He's comfortable. He always does that and no one else has a problem with it."
The teen's mum was said to have been "initially impressed with the care her son was getting" at the home, but "grew more concerned as time went on". When she approached Leah over these concerns, she replied that he "had her wrapped around his little finger" and that she "loved him like one of her own" and "thought he was gorgeous and handsome".
Mr Christie added: "She has never admitted that any sexual activity took place with [the boy]. It is for you to determine whether that is correct or not."
Members of the jury were then read a string of WhatsApp messages sent between the two parties over the course of around two months. During one exchange, Leah told the boy - who was saved as "Pain in My A**e" in her contacts - that she was "proper paranoid" that she had "lost you".
She responded: "I hope with all my heart that's true" before adding "I hope I've not lost you to a sl*g". Her texts, which were apparently sent when she was "in the pub and drunk", continued: "Your lying made me wanna kill myself. Iâm not emo either. Where you gone? Iâm sorry. If you never met me then your life would be better."
After the boy asked her "why you ringing me while you're p***ed?", Leah replied: "To numb the pain of losing you. I miss you so much. All I want is for me and you to have a night away from everything, just us. "If I wake up from these tablets and wine, 'cos I was in pain, then we will. Love you always though. Do you want to go MFC on 17th?"
This abbreviation was said to be a reference to "missing from care". Leah then continued: "I love you so much. Can I book somewhere for you and me on Friday? Somewhere with balloons and flake."
She went on to accuse him of "lying to me" about messaging a girl, saying: "I'm hoping and praying you aren't messaging her any more, but I can't give you any money until I know for sure. Show me how much you love me and I can go back to giving money and a nice life."
When the teenager later told Leah that his phone needed to be fixed, Leah said: "Thereâs no reason you can't have it, other than me being a b**** because of whatâs happened. Get school tomoz and I might let you have it Friday, if you donât get any messages or missed calls or people telling me youâve been with her."
After the boy said that the mobile would "break before then", Leah told him: "I'll give it you Wednesday for a love bite." She also told him that she had listened to a "stupid love song", adding: "It made be think of you and then it made me cry. I won't be listening to that again. Add me back on Instagram now.
"You CBA speaking to me. I might see you in four days or I might just f*** off 'cos I ain't being treated like that. I wanted to give you the chance to apologise to me. Youâre really not sorry for what you did to me today. Vile what you did to me today."
When the boy messaged her to say "I am sorry", Leah continued: "I'm sorry, after all the names and you hitting me, isnât enough. Enjoy your ket session. Enjoy the last 25 quid you ever took from me. Last chance to see me before I go.
"I know you're ketted up. You need to come see me. Look on your Snap. Oh, you canât can you? I sent you a video of your phone and a picture of you last year. On Snap, I've sent you a video of your new phone. A memory came up of you last year. I sent you that too.
"Please stop sniffing ket. I said I'd buy you that trackie if you stop for two weeks. I will do anything. Look at that picture I sent you on Snap and look at your face. You are killing yourself."
The messages then continued the following day, with Leah saying: "Thief. Liar. What youâve done to me is vile. Worst thing is, you donât even give a f***. Got what you wanted.
"Youâve got five minutes to walk away from your mates and ring me and explain why you think I should forgive you. Two more minutes and I mean it. Itâs about time you realised how much you hurt me, but you actually donât give a f***.
"Itâs been the hardest decision of my life, but I swear I'll do it. I deserve to be treated better. The fact you stole and lied shows how much you give a f*** about me. Bye then. You had your chance. You hurt me and now you won't speak to me.
"If I hurt you⌠I would do everything I could to make it better. Instead, youâre just nasty to me and hurt me even more. You donât care if you ever speak to me again or see me again.
"Are they more important than me? How about fixing what you broke. You had no right to block me on Instagram and Snapchat. Add me back now. Not even funny, 'cos I'm the one crying again.
"Iâm sick of this. I done f*** all wrong and I'm the one that gets hurt again. You genuinely don't give a f*** about me at all. I guess this is funny for you.
"Goodbye forever. Take care of yourself. I did love you so much. Admit who you're with, 'cos I will find out. Are we over then? Me and you, done forever? Are me and you over then? Just tell me, because itâs not fair on me.
"Youâre bang into ket and coke. So you have changed. It's hard to see someone you love looking and behaving like a smackhead. Weâve been together a year. Do you know how much you f*** up my head?"
The court also heard that Leah took the child on three trips away to caravans in Cheshire and North Wales including a two-night booking for a ÂŁ140 "holiday." Leah, who is represented by Rebecca Filletti, denies one count of being a person in a position of trust causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity.
The trial continues.
