‘I’m a Corrie superfan and ITV soap filmed icon’s exit outside my flat’
One Coronation Street fan caught a Freshco van outside their flat - and caught part of one character's exit storyline after 14 years.
A Coronation Street mega-fan has exposed a potential exit for one character after 14 years on the ITV cobbles – after the soap filmed right outside their flat. Reddit user ashlingle took to the social media site to share behind-the-scenes snaps from the soap, which saw a Frescho van pulling into a street. A small lorry bearing the logo of the fictional supermarket was pictured, with the slogan: “Freshness that’s right up your street!”
The user explained: “We got a letter through the door about two weeks ago saying that they would be doing drone shots and filming a ‘chase scene’ and they came today. I wasn’t expecting to see anything because where I live isn't exactly in the filming zone, but, when I looked out of the window there was a Freshco van parked across the street and the crew’s brew station was set up at the side of my house.
“My boyfriend had to peel me away from the window!!!! I could hear the director and everything. Best day of [my] life mate.”
Other fans quickly rushed to comment on the post, with one suggesting it’s likely to do with Craig Tinker’s exit storyline as Colson Smith leaves Corrie after more than a decade. One fan pointed out: “From what Colson posted on his Insta it might be one of Craig’s exit scenes!”
The original poster wrote: “I can’t believe Craigy was stood behind [my] house today!” as another echoed: “Hopefully, mate. Craig has now been made redundant on the show, because Craig primarily served to tell his neighbour's about the ins and the outs of the local nick. Now that role goes to Kit (Zodiac) and Swain.
“To be honest, the character should've exited after Faye did, a character that I truly miss. Since her departure, Gary, who is my favourite character, has lost the driving force for most of his fury. They've tried to transfer it to Liam, just like they tried to replace Tim with Stu in the Mason storyline.”
Colson, meanwhile, confirmed: “Autumn last year I was told that Craig Tinker’s time on the cobbles is to come to an end in 2025. I’ve loved every single second of my 14-year stay as a resident on the greatest street in the world. I feel incredibly lucky to have grown up in, on and around Coronation Street.
“I’ve learnt pretty much everything about life from the people who call it home. I’m excited to play out the exit story for our Craigy. For me, this is just the end of the beginning. I genuinely can’t wait to see what chapter 2 has in store for me. Long live the cobbles!”
