The production will be staged on Feb. 3, off-Broadway at the New York Theatre Workshop. The event will be hosted by “Succession” star J. Smith-Cameron and will include a post-performance Q&A with the cast and director of the original theater production, Brent Buell (played by Paul Raci in the film).

Popular on VarietyFrom director Greg Kwedar, “Sing Sing” stars Colman Domingo as John “Divine G” Whitfield, a man who is imprisoned for a crime he did not commit. He finds purpose, along with a group of other incarcerated men, through the prison’s Rehabilitation Through the Arts program. The film, which is based on a true story, cast many of the formerly incarcerated men from Sing Sing to play themselves.
In September, one of those actors, Velazquez, was exonerated of his wrongful murder conviction after serving nearly 24 years in prison. He began filming “Sing Sing” less than a year after he was released from the titular prison, calling the project “one of the most important things I’ve done in my life.”
