Lee Joo Sil took her last breath on February 2 at 10:20 AM while receiving treatment for her illness. Her funeral will be held at Shinchon Severance Hospital, with visitation open from February 3. The final service is scheduled for February 5.

Last year, Lee revealed on MBNâs Special World that she had previously been diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer and was given a limited time to live. She fought the disease for over a decade and was even declared cancer-free at one point, but a recent examination confirmed its recurrence.
More recently, and famously, Lee took on a role in Netflixâs highly anticipated Squid Game 2 as Park Mal Soon, the mother of Hwang Jun Ho (played by Wi Ha Joon) and stepmother of Hwang In Ho (played by Lee Byung Hun).
