2024 Marked Michael Keaton's Beetlejuice Return, But His Other Comedy From Last Year Now On Max Shouldn't Go Unnoticed
Michael Keaton had a big 2024.
2024 was a great year for Michael Keaton, starting with his return as Betelgeuse in Tim Burtonâs Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, but his other comedy released months later is also worth checking out. Michael Keatonâs acting career began in 1976 when he played Lannie Wolf in the sitcom Allâs Fair before his big screen debut in the comedy Rabbit Test. Keatonâs big break was in the 1979 sitcom Working Stiffs, alongside Jim Belushi, followed by a supporting role in the comedy Night Shift.
Keaton continued appearing in different comedy movies, and in 1988, he starred in Tim Burtonâs Beetlejuice as the title bio-exorcist. Beetlejuice marked the beginning of a series of collaborations with Burton, including Keatonâs time as Bruce Wayne/Batman. Keaton has also shown his acting skills in other genres, especially drama, most notably in Birdman. Keaton hasnât slowed down in his career, but he had a successful 2024, starting with Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, but his other project from last year shouldnât be ignored: Goodrich.
Goodrich Was Released On October 8, 2024
Goodrich is a comedy-drama written and directed by Hallie Meyers-Shyer. Goodrich follows Andy Goodrich (Keaton), a 60-year-old art dealer in Los Angeles. When his younger wife, Naomi (Laura Benanti) enters a 90-day rehab program, Andy is left by himself with his nine-year-old twins Billie and Mose. It quickly becomes clear to Andy that he doesnât know how to handle being a single father to his kids, and he asks his estranged 36-year-old daughter Grace (Mila Kunis) for help.
Grace has a tense relationship with Andy as he was also working when she was a kid, so she was mostly raised by her mother, Ann (Andie MacDowell). Grace agrees to help Andy, despite still having a lot of resentment towards him, and they begin to talk more and connect as they had never before. Goodrich was well-received by critics and grossed $1.9 million at the box office, though its budget is unknown. Goodrich can now be streamed on Max, as well as Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, making the perfect Michael Keaton double-feature.
Both Tim Burton Batman movies starring Michael Keaton are also streaming on Max.
