Mental health has long been a cause close to Prince Williamâs heart. Alongside his wife Kate Middleton, and his brother Prince Harry, the royal launched the Heads Together campaign in 2017 to end stigma around the topic. It led to a series of open conversations from William and Harry about the grief they felt after the death of their mother, Princess Diana.
Speaking at the time, the Prince of Wales told the BBCâs Royal Team Talk that he felt âpain like no otherâ after Princess Diana died in a car crash in 1997. Speaking with Peter Crouch, Danny Rose, Thierry Henry, Jermaine Jenas, and Gareth Southgate, the future king called for more openness when it came to mental health.

âParticularly in Britain as well, we are nervous about our emotions,â he explained. âWeâre a bit embarrassed at times. You know, the British âstiff upper lipâ thing â thatâs great, and we need to have that occasionally, when times are really hard there has to be a moment for that. But otherwise, weâve got to relax a little bit, and be able to talk about our emotions, because weâre not robots.â
