Aarika Shannon Joubert was born on May 22, 1970, to Sandra Gayle Thomas Joubert and Alfred “Red” Joubert. She graduated from Lake Charles Boston High School Class of 1988. Later she attended and graduated from Unitech Training Academy in Lake Charles, La. Aarika had many accomplishments.
Aarika Shannon Joubert was employed with Rampart Multi-Family Property Management for seven years but had been with Chateau Du Lac (High-Rise) for over 10 years. Aarika was also employed with Harrah’s Casino for many years before she started working in property management. Aarika’s hobbies included going to car shows, baking pies, arts and crafts, and shopping. She also loved watching the New Orleans Saints football games and enjoying family and friends. She was a dedicated mother and employee. She loved her son with all her heart.
Aarika was preceded in death by her grandparents, John “Yankee” Thomas, and Adolph and Lillian Joubert.
Aarika leaves to mourn her memory her beloved son, Aaqaan Kaleek Darbonne; her mother, Sandra Gayle Joubert; father, Alfred “Red” Joubert; four brothers, Adrian “Lynn” Thomas (Tamika) and Brandon “Bran” Thomas (Thelma), all of Lake Charles, La., Al’Trevion Joubert of Lafayette, La. and Koji Joubert of Cecilia, La.; grandmother, Joyce Thomas of Lake Charles, La.; Goddaughter, Loleta Galentine, and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, Jan. 25, 2025, at 10 a.m., and funeral service at 1 p.m., at King’s Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery under the direction of King’s Funeral Home.
