Abbie Chatfield reveals fears as her boyfriend Adam Hyde moves in
Abbie Chatfield has revealed a very relatable fear as boyfriend Adam Hyde prepares to move in with her.
Abbie Chatfield has revealed a very relatable fear as boyfriend Adam Hyde prepares to move in with her.
Abbie, 29, owns a $1.75 million apartment in the eastern Sydney suburb of Tamarama, as well as a $1.4 million pad in Byron Bay.
In a TikTok video, Abbie revealed she was unsure how much rent she should be asking her Peking Duk star partner to pay her.
Abbie started her video asking for advice from followers who were in a similar situation.
'Can you comment or stitch his video with information about how you split finances in your partnership if your partner moved in with you when one of you owned the property?' she asked.
'Adam's moving in on Sunday, I own this apartment and I'm trying to figure out how to split costs or if he pays rent.'

Abbie admitted the question springs from trauma she experienced in childhood.
'We earn about the same amount, that's not the issue,' she said.
'I've just had some trauma in my childhood and my adulthood of men leeching off women for money.
'I have a binding financial agreement and I'm fine with that and for that reason I know that I have to get him to pay rent and he's the same.'
Abbie said the couple had agreed that Adam would pay for a cleaner once a week as well as half of the utilities.
'I will charge him rent, but I'm wondering wow much. Do I do market research on a room in the area? That seems a bit deranged.
'I don't want him to split the mortgage, that would be insane, and I also don't want him to have any claim or stake in my apartment.'
Abbie's post captured the attention of fans who flooded the comments with suggestions.
Abbie revealed that she was unsure how much rent she should be asking her Peking Duk star partner, who is moving in this weekend, to pay
'Adam's moving in on Sunday, I own this apartment and I'm trying to figure out how to split costs or if he pays rent,' she said
'I owned my apartment,' one fan offered. 'After two years of dating, my partner moved in, he paid market rent, which I added to an account which we used to buy our second home.'
Another offered: 'I’m buying and my partner is renting from me. I’ll pay a larger portion. In eight years, which is when he hits a percentage of the total mortgage paid, his rent payments will translate to equity.'
A third suggested Adam should be paying all of the rent - a suggestion Abbie slammed.
'I have no desire to give my financial independence over to a man. Particularly when I earn as much as him,' she said.
'I’d feel deeply uncomfortable having a man control the finances.'
According to Domain, Abbie splashed out $1,758,000 - which was $117,000 below the listed sale price for her Tamarama apartment in 2022.
The light and breezy apartment has an open-plan living room which opens to a sunroom. The home has a basic kitchen and bathroom.
The property sits on 80sqm and sits in a tightly-held art deco block in the city, and boasts an outdoor deck.

Abbie and Adam revealed their plans for co-habitation back in October.
The Peking Duk frontman was on Abbie's It's A Lot podcast earlier this week where the lovebirds conducted an Ask Me Anything session on their relationship.
After a listener asked, 'Are Abbie and Adam planning to move in together?' both of them enthusiastically responded 'yes'.
'Ah, yes we are,' said Adam, while Abbie, 29, echoed, 'We are!'
Abbie and Adam confirmed that they have spent almost every night together since they began dating six months prior.
The couple also stated that wedding bells were definitely on the horizon.
'I want to marry you,' said Abbie, while her beau said he wanted that as well.
The musician also added that he is planning on having children with the podcaster.
'And also yeah, I'm like if there's anyone I'm having kids with, it's you for sure and me and you have you've spoken a lot about it,' he said.
