Oscars 2025: Adrien Brody throws gum at his girlfriend
Adrien Brody has enraged fans with his actions towards his girlfriend Georgina Chapman, captured live at the Oscars last night.
Brody, 51, won his second Oscar for Best Actor in a Leading Role, thanks wot his work in The Brutalist, about a Jewish-Hungarian architect who flees the horrors of the Second World War for a better life in the States. The actor beat TimothĂŠe Chalamet (A Complete Unknown), Colman Domingo (Sing Sing), Ralph Fiennes (Conclave) and Sebastian Stan (The Apprentice), and seemed surprised as he ran up to the stage.
So surprised, in fact, that he seemed to forget that he had chewing gum in his mouth. Just before climbing the stairs to get his award, he spat the wad of gum into his hand. Georgina seemed to know what was coming and ran towards him, with Brody chucking his gum at her from feet away as she threw her arm out to try to catch it.
On X, formerly known as Twitter, viewers at home were shocked by the âdegradingâ moment. âWTH. Eww. He should have just put it in his pocket...and she goes to catch it? Pffffft,â one person wrote. A second added: âSuch an arrogant, self-indulgent p***k. I would never degrade my partner like this. Georgina â youâre 0 for 2 in picking men. You deserve better.â

Penske Media via Getty Images)âAdrien Brody is becoming the most hated man this evening. Kissing a random woman and tossing his gum to his partner is such a low class act,â said a third, with another writing: âNo shade but adrien throwing that gum at his wife was so tacky and gross.â
âAdrien Brody taking 1 whole minute to get on the stage, throwing his gum on the floor, and proceeding to have a 6.5 minute speech where he demands the orchestra to stop playing so he can keep yapping,â another added along with a photo of a disgusted face.
Prior to her relationship with Brody Georgina was married to disgraced producer Harvey Weinstein, but separated from him after multiple claims of sexual assault emerged against him. Georgina moved on with Brody after her divorce finalised in 2021, going public with their relationship at the Tribeca Film Festival that same year after first meeting through mutual friends in 2019.
While fans were horrified by his gum throwing towards Georgina, the actor did give her and her children a nod in his acceptance speech. "I share this with my amazing partner, Georgina, who's not only reinvigorated my own self-worth, but my sense of value and my values. And her beautiful children Dash and India,â he said. âI know this is a, it's been a roller coaster, but thank you for accepting me into your life. And Popsy's coming home the winner."
