Whilst not naming any specific ill-mannered famous faces, he shared an anecdote about his meeting with actress Dame Joan Collins. He recalled: "People always ask interviewers, 'What were they REALLY like?' don't they?
"I remember the second time I interviewed Joan Collins, I told her people had asked me what she was like 'close up'. She thrust her face towards me and said: 'Well??! 'I said: 'Very good!'"
Alan hosted the iconic show, which was broadcast live from the studio's foyer, in the early 90s until its end in 1996. During his time on the show he interviewed huge names including Shirley Bassey and Morgan Freeman.
The BBC closed Pebble Mill Studios due to lease problems, changes in television production, and concrete cancer in some parts of the building
