Angellica Bell's husband Michael Underwood has broken his silence after his wife's Celebrity Big Brother debut.

Angellica entered the Celebrity Big Brother house on Monday night (April 7), alongside a star-studded line-up that also includes Coronation Street's Jack P Shepherd, musician Chesney Hawkes and Hollywood star Mickey Rourke.

The 49-year-old presenter is best known for her appearance on CBBC from 2000 to 2006, as well as stints on The One Show and The Martin Lewis Money Show.

Angellica married her former BBC co-star Michael Underwood in 2010, and the pair share two children.

Speaking on Hits Radio on Tuesday morning (April 8), Michael discussed his wife's stay in the Celebrity Big Brother house, and how she will fare living amongst the other famous faces.

"I feel like she is an underdog going in, though. She is, we have to be honest about it. There's some big names, big characters in there, and really popular people," he told hosts Fleur East and James Barr.

"You've got big soap stars and people from Hollywood and all of that. But I'd like to think that because she's so loyal, kind, a friendly listener, she's got lots of attributes that could hopefully keep her in, but who knows."

James then chimed in with his prediction that Angellica will win the show, with Fleur adding: "I think it's exciting because people can actually get to know her, and we haven't really seen the real Angellica. So, I think once they get to know her, I think they're gonna fall in love with her."

Michael continued: "I hope so. I mean, I hope they get to see what I saw when I first met her 25 years ago. Because I met her when she first joined CBBC, that's when we first met. We've been married for like 15 years.

"If they get to see what I fell in love with, which is just that lighting up a room, she's so caring, she's loving but she's independent, she's strong, she's got the will and I love that about her. If they see that then hopefully, you know, they'll want to keep her in and they'll love her."

Speaking ahead of last night's live launch, Angellica explained that she was looking forward to meeting a cross section of people from society, as well as being kept on her toes.

"I know BB likes to throw in curve balls but I'm also looking forward to a bit of dressing up, role playing and generally having a bit of fun – just being silly," she added.

"I'm all about enjoying the moment and having a good time. To sum it up, the general experience - it's Big Brother. It's iconic."

Following Angellica's entrance into the house, CBB fans quickly took to X (formerly Twitter) to share their first impressions of the star.

"Angellica looked very excited to go into the house! I think she will be interesting to watch," one person wrote, with another adding: "Angellica will be lots of fun in the #CBBUK house."

A third fan echoed the sentiment, saying: "Angellica Bell is already delivering! She is my childhood and I'm so happy she's in that house."
