Attending a 2025 Oscars after party, 'Sh?gun' star Anna Sawai served up understated elegance. Discover all the makeup details straight from her artist, right here.
Earlier this month, Anna Sawai stunned in a jaw-dropping look at the SAG Awards, and her appearance at last night's Vanity Fair Oscars After Party cemented the Shogun star's status as a red carpet darling. Throughout the season, Sawai has kept her beauty looks "effortless, unforgettable, and sophisticated," says makeup artist Akina Shimizu. For Sawai's Oscars after-party look, Shimizu was inspired by understated elegance.
"I enhanced her natural beauty by keeping foundation and powder to a minimum and adding a touch of radiance with a highlighter," says Shimizu.

"The key products for this look were the foundation and the highlighter," says Shimizu. "I used the Dior Forever Skin Perfect Multi-Use Foundation Stick in #2W and applied it with the Dior Backstage Concealer Brush No. 13. For a natural yet beautiful and glowy finish, I used a small brush to gently pat the foundation from the stick onto the skin. For the highlighter, I used the Dior Backstage Glow Face Palette #001 Universal. This palette contains four shades, but I focused on the white and pink tones. I applied them with a big, fluffy brush for a soft, radiant glow."
To keep focus on the skin, Shimizu kept the eyes and lips soft. She used a mix of nude eyeshadows with the Diorshow On Stage Liner in #091 Matte Black and Diorshow Mascara in #090 Black. For her nude lip, Shimizu lined the lips with Rouge Dior Contour in #310 Beige Tulle and filled them withRouge Dior in #200 Nude Touch Satin Finish.
"This makeup enhanced her natural beauty," says Shimizu. While it was applied with a light touch, it’s not your typical no-makeup makeup look. Instead, it demonstrates how a glamorous finish can be achieved with restraint.
