Bill Burr is smashing up some rumors about his family tree.
The comedian addressed The Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan after he suggested that Burr could be one of his dad’s “illegitimate children.”
Speculation over the two stars’ possible shared lineage started last year, when Corgan, 57, recounted how his stepmother told him that Burr “might be one of the children that your father sired in his days being a traveling musician” during an appearance on the Howie Mandel Does Stuff podcast.
So, when Burr, 56, appeared on the Jan. 21 episode of the podcast, the topic of his potential blood relations with the rocker was brought up, with host Howie Mandel even bringing on Corgan for a face-to-face discussion.
After jokingly calling Mandel an “a--hole” for blindsiding him, Burr—who has been open about the emotional abuse his dad inflicted on him during his childhood—turned to Corgan and quipped, “Did you ever think the fact that I never told that story, that maybe you shouldn’t?”

Of the musician, he added, “It’s not that I don’t like him, it reminds me of all of that s--t.”
And Burr—who shares a daughter named Lola, 9, and a 4-year-old son whose name is not publicly known with wife Nia Renée Hill—also joked about the creativity of his dad’s choice in names.
“He was a piece of s--t,” he continued. “He had two kids this close together and he gave them the same f--king name?”

After some initial hesitation to embrace their meeting, the King of Staten Island star took time to lightheartedly confront his lookalike.
“Listen, you’ve done well for yourself, I’m happy for you,” Burr told Corigan. “I just would prefer if you didn’t go around telling these f--king stories. Why did you feel the need to do that?”
For his part, Corgan shared his own thoughts about the likelihood that the pair are actually half-brothers.
“The fact that he said he can’t sing, I think, disproves that we’re related,” he said, “’cause I’m not funny. So, it goes both ways.”
Although it’s unclear how official their relation is, read on to see other stars that are surprisingly related.
