Ariana Grande and her boyfriend Ethan Slater strangely shook hands as they greeted each other at the SAG Awards.
The duo started dating in 2023 after meeting on the set of Wicked, with the two mostly keeping their relationship private. However, their relationship sparked controversy as both were still legally married at the time - Ethan to Lilly Jay and Ariana to ex-husband Dalton Gomez.
In December, Dr. Lilly Jay, who is Ethan's childhood sweetheart, broke her silence on the entire situation and admitted there were "days when I can't escape the promotion of a movie associated with the saddest days of my life." Despite the end of their romantic relationship, Lilly noted that their commitment to co-parenting remains unchanged.
Meanwhile, Ethan and Ariana have been pictured on numerous occasions in recent weeks as they took part in awards season. Most recently, the two - along with the cast of Wicked - appeared at the SAG Awards. Wicked was nominated for best ensemble cast while Cynthia Erivo was nominated to best actress. Jonathan Bailey was nominated for best supporting actor and Ariana for best supporting actress.

Variety via Getty Images)One particular moment confused fans as they saw Ariana and Ethan shake hands before posing for a few photos. One fan even joked the two started to look like "just coworkers". However, later in the night, they look more loved-up as they held hands while guiding each other through the packed crowd. Ariana also had her arm around him as they sat at their table.
Footage of the two was shared online but many fans weren't convinced by their relationship. One user said: "She is NOT feeling that man anymore," and another posted: "We do not stan." One fan liked the duo together and wrote: "I must admit they look very cute."
Last year, Ethan's ex Lilly opened up about her shock at the divorce in a deeply personal essay for The Cut. "In the countless hours I spend rocking my son to sleep, pushing his stroller, marvelling at his sweaty little hands grasping a crayon, I work diligently on my private project of accepting the sudden public downfall of my marriage," she penned.
"This, I tell myself, is nothing to be ashamed of and nothing to hide. Slowly but surely, I have come to believe that in the absence of the life I planned with my high-school sweetheart, a lifetime of sweetness is waiting for me and my child."
