Meanwhile, Wicked star Ariana Grande managed to get her hands on one of the new season’s most enduring silhouettes for Spring ‘25: Schiaparelli’s champagne-hued, capaciously architectural ballgown. Inspired by the greats of haute couture’s history books like Charles Frederick Worth, Madame Grés and Yves Saint Laurent, creative director Daniel Roseberry’s ultra-elegant ‘Icarus’ line was the toast of the town back in January, and his bold dedication to opulence looked just as delicious when debuted at the Petit Palais as it did on the actress on the red carpet last night.
Armani Privé was another trophy-worthy choice at the event, with nominees Demi Moore and Felicity Jones opting for pieces from the famed designer’s Italian answer to haute couture, which celebrated two decades of its fatto a mano division at the newly opened Palazzo Armani in Paris during the season. Both Moore and Jones settled on shimmering silver ensembles for the A-list affair, while previous Tatler cover star Elle Fanning, achieved a tour de force in her own right, getting her hands on Sarah Burton’s new couture for Givenchy before the former Alexander McQueen designer (and creator of the Princess of Wales’s wedding dress back in 2011) had even shown her inaugural line for the house to the world - which will happen during Paris’s SS26’s ready-to-wear-collection in September. Could this mean she’ll be returning the Maison to the couture schedule next January? We certainly hope so!
Other notable haute heroines included Cynthia Erivo in custom Louis Vuitton (and the Vivienne Westwood she later slipped into for her on-stage performance), Da’Vine Joy Randolph in Tamara Ralph, and Lily-Rose Depp in Chanel - a delicious choice for the actresses’s first arrival at the event which took the house’s petites mains some 515 hours to create in the rue Cambon atelier.
Of course, striking it big when it comes to taking home the gilded gongs is the ultimate accolade in the film world, but for us fashion folk, calling dibs on Paris Couture Week’s greatest hits (or having your favourite house concoct something new entirely) is the optimum style power move.
