Exciting new information is emerging all the time on Avengers: Doomsday.

The lid was lifted ever so slightly on Marvel's next Avengers film when early concept art leaked online. It revealed a ton of secrets, including potential settings we'll see, as well as characters, cast, and story.

Avengers: Doomsday pits the Avengers against Doctor Doom, the biggest threat they've faced since Thanos. It'll see them cross multiple dimensions and timelines as they assemble together and save the universe.

That's our closest guess, anyway. For now, the exact synopsis is a closely guarded secret. No one outside of a tight circle has even sniffed the story, and it's expected to undergo quite a few drafts and revisions as the final treatment is hammered into place.

There are theories Avengers: Doomsday will centre on Battleworld, a patchwork world made from remnants of destroyed realities that debuted in 1984 comic book Secret Wars #1. Here, Doom rules as God Emperor until he's thwarted by Reed Richards of the Fantastic Four.

When is the Avengers: Doomsday Trailer?

The trailer for Avengers: Doomsday is still a long way from release. Currently, Marvel is gearing up to start shooting both this film and its sequel, Avengers: Secret Wars, in April 2025. "It's all in London," co-director Joe Russo tells Deadline. "We're shooting them fairly back-to-back, it's a lot of work again, we may or may not survive, we'll see."

When the trailer does release, it'll have a gargantuan promotional push, possibly the biggest in Marvel history, so don't worry about missing it.

Avengers: Doomsday Cast

The full Avengers: Doomsday cast list is said to feature the highest number of Marvel heroes and villains ever. Since the Avengers first united in 2012's Avengers: Assemble, Marvel has brought dozens of comic book characters to the big screen.

This ranges from established names like Black Panther and Ant Man, to the lesser-known likes of Adam Warlock, and Shang-Chi. There are also rumors we'll see some characters from the Netflix and Disney+ series finally cross over, such as Kingpin, Punisher, and Jessica Jones, as well as anti-hero team the Thunderbolts.

Concept art recently leaked showcasing a variety of scenarios from the film. In one, we see an entire village of Hulks, including Mark Ruffalo's so-called Smart Hulk, and his son Skaar.

In another, the Young Avengers - Kate Bishop, Ms. Marvel, Cassie Lang, Wiccan, and Speed - are hanging out in a bar with Star Lord. Plus, we see a brand new Black Panther standing proud in a stunning landscape. The character resembles actor Damson Idris, who's not yet been officially cast in the role.

We also get our first look at Doom's costume. It's a mix of fur and futuristic metal, which nails the character's comic book aesthetic while still appearing believable in live-action. It's far from final, but a solid indicator of how Doom appears in the film.

What is the Avengers: Doomsday Release Date?

Avengers: Doomsday releases globally in cinemas 1 May 2026. Its sequel, Avengers: Secret Wars, releases almost a year later on 7 May 2027.
