Bargain Hunt: Jon Kay worries he's made 'mistakes'
BBC Breakfast's Jon Kay has openly admitted to making some "terrible mistakes" during his latest TV venture. On Tuesday's (11 March) episode of BBC Breakfast, Jon and co-host Sally Nugent were joined by sports presenter John Watson.
In a special segment, it was revealed that Jon and Sally had taken part in a celebratory episode of BBC's Bargain Hunt, marking its 25th anniversary. Clips showcasing their bargaining skills and knack for spotting valuable items were shared with the audience.
The unique episode saw John taking on presenting duties, while Bargain Hunt's respected Tim Weeks guided Jon and Sally in their search for antiques and unique treasures. During the hunt, Jon bagged a vintage Dinky Toy car priced at £129 and a tea caddy set costing £40.

Meanwhile, Sally demonstrated her thriftiness, choosing a coffee grinder for £19 and securing a large teapot commemorating the Queen's Golden Jubilee for just £5. Tim praised Sally's purchases, particularly commending her teapot bargain as a "really good buy" after she managed to negotiate a lower price, according to the Express, reports Lancs Live.
Reflecting on the distinct tactics employed by Jon and Sally, Tim remarked: "Well, very different approaches, I would say. Jon's left it all out on the table. He's gone big, I like his style. He obviously watches Bargain Hunt because he asked to get that extra pound off. He has got a good game plan there. Sally, though, is in it to win it! I really think there's a golden gavel coming that way."
After their stint on Bargain Hunt, Jon and Sally reconvened with the BBC Breakfast crew to chat about what went down. Jon candidly expressed some remorse over his strong competitive drive, admitting, "We're going to auction it later today. I think I've made some terrible mistakes," while addressing his colleagues.
Sally picked up on his zealous nature, mentioning: "I think you were really competitive and took it really seriously. I thought we were just going to have fun and a lovely day out. You want to win, clearly!"

Jon owned up to being a fierce competitor, which led Sally to add: "I just giggled all day. I clearly just didn't take it seriously enough. Also, I was very frugal. You blew the budget, I was very careful. I was being cautious with other people's money."
To Sally's comments, Jon playfully retorted: "Oh, Sally! Don't emotionally blackmail me!" sparking laughter between the pair.
They also let slip that viewers will be treated to the grand reveal of their bargain hunt results at an auction scheduled for Tuesday, with the full disclosure set to be aired during Wednesday's (12 March) coverage on BBC Breakfast.
BBC Breakfast airs on weekdays at 6am on BBC One
