BBC EastEnders' Adam Woodyatt shares real reason he moved into a motorhome
After splitting from his ex-wife Beverley Sharp, EastEnders icon Adam Woodyatt made the unconventional decision to move into a motorhome
EastEnders legend Adam Woodyatt revealed the real reason he moved into a £93,000 motorhome after splitting from his wife.
Adam, 56, and Beverley Sharp split in 2019, over two decades after the pair were married. It resulted in Adam, who has starred as Ian Beale since 1985, moving into a campervan "in a field in Devon".
Initially the actor bought the motorhome for a UK theatre tour. But after the split, he decided to move into the vehicle, reports Plymouth Live.
Speaking on Dublin FM's Big Breakfast in 2022 Adam was asked about his decision to buy a motorhome. He explained: "I've not just purchased it, I live in it."
Radio presenter Rebecca Shekleton asked: "How do you find it?" To which Adam joked: "It's usually where I left it parked."

He added: "I love it, it wouldn't suit everyone but where I am in my life at the moment, it's perfect for me. I've got all my stuff for cooking, I've got my house on wheels."
Adam said one downside of going on tour with his play was that he was actually leaving his motorhome behind, meaning he had to pack a suitcase. He said: "Normally, my motorhome is my suitcase, I've got everything with me."
In a conversation with The Sun in 2021, Adam shared that the original reason for purchasing the motorhome was to avoid the hassle of hotel stays while touring. He elaborated: "I've got a motorhome ready for the tour so I won't have to worry about staying in hotels or anything like that."
Embracing this new chapter, he added: "But I've taken advantage of it and I'm currently in a field in Devon."

Adam and Beverley announced the end of their marriage in 2021, confirming they had separated the previous year. The former couple share grown-up children Jessica and Samuel.
As reported by OK!, Adam purchased his motorhome for £93,000. The 2.3-meter-wide vehicle is said to feature underfloor heating, a cosy living area, and a double bed.
Adam is set to appear on Saturday Kitchen at 9.45am today on BBC One. He will be joined by Diane Parish, Emma Barton and Jacqueline Jossa to discuss the 40th anniversary of EastEnders.
