Chris McCausland has shared an incident where Dianne Buswell 'made a fuss' during one of their Strictly Come Dancing performances last year.

The comedian and the professional dancer created emotional scenes when they won the 2024 series of the BBC One dance competition in December.

Chris, who was the first blind contestant on Strictly, and Dianne were paired together in September, weeks before their debut performance in the show's famous ballroom.

Thirteen weeks later, Chris and Dianne, who joined the show in 2017, were moved to tears as they claimed the coveted Glitterball trophy, beating their fellow finalists.

After their dancing journey ended, the pair went their separate ways but confirmed weeks later that their partnership wasn't over as they reunited for a new podcast.

They named their joint venture Winning Isn't Everything, inspired by Dianne's father Mark's words to his daughter when she found out her partner for her eighth year on the show.

A new episode has been released where, for the first time, the pair discuss their first-ever performance on Strictly. Fans will remember how Chris and Dianne transported them back to the '60s with their flares, swing dresses and psychedelic performance of a Cha Cha Cha to The Beatles hit, Twist and Shout, reports the Manchester Evening News.

In the latest episode of their podcast, Chris spilled the beans as he said: "Originally we weren't going to do the Cha Cha Cha, They wanted us doing something else..."

However, Dianne was quick to correct him: "We were always going to do the Cha Cha Cha, Chris but we weren't going to be doing that song."

Curious, Chris prompted Dianne to remind him of the original song choice before she "kicked up a fuss". Dianne confessed: "I did, I thought, 'Oh God here we go. The first dance and she's kicking up a fuss already,'" and then revealed they were initially set to perform to Loco in Acapulco by The Four Tops.

This revelation left fans speculating on how different their performance might have been. One person commented: "Did anyone immediately go to re watch the cha cha cha after this podcast and watched it in a slightly different way after this week's inside info from the studio and rehearsal room."

Another responded: "Yes, I did. I re watch them all often, but after this, I had to check it out again. I feel it could be a weekly thing."

Someone else wrote: "I loved the podcast as I always do. You both make me howl with laughter each and every episode. Well done @diannebuswell for sticking to your guns and getting that first dance changed to Twist and Shout. Oco Poco, just wouldn't have been the same."

Strictly Come Dancing is available to watch on BBC iPlayer.
