BBC take action against Wynne Evans after sexual remark about Strictly co-star

Strictly star Wynne Evans has been issued a warning by the BBC after he was caught making a sexual remark about a co-star on tour.
The Go Compare advert star, 52, is currently performing alongside pro dancer Katya Jones in the Strictly Live Tour. During a photocall in Birmingham with fellow cast stars JB Gill, Montell Douglas, Shayne Ward and Jamie Borthwick, Wynne made a lewd joke as Janette Manrara walked over.
Evans has since apologised in a statement: "My language was inappropriate and unacceptable for which I sincerely apologise." A BBC spokesperson has also confirmed that they have spoken to the opera singer and said they "do not tolerate such behaviour". Tour producers have also issued him with a warning.
A spokesman for the Strictly live tour and BBC Studios: “We were not previously aware of the remark and did not receive any complaints. We have made it very clear to Wynne that we do not tolerate such behaviour on the tour.”
As he and the cast huddled together for a photo, Evans had been recorded making an inappropriate sexual comment to Janette when she walked over to the group. He sang out: "Go Compare," before adding: "Not too close to Jamie."

Janette's reaction was unclear as her face was momentarily covered by other Strictly stars. There was awkward laughter, with Jamie wincing as Evans appeared to snigger at himself.
Evans recently pulled out of the Strictly tour's stint in Glasgow due to an ankle injury. He shared images of his bruised ankle in a story on Instagram. In a video posted on the social media site on Saturday evening, he said: “Ankle’s getting a bit better, it was great to be able to sing in Glasgow tonight, even if I couldn’t dance, hopefully back tomorrow. But watch this space, I’ll let you know in the morning. See how the swelling goes down, and all that kind of stuff, thanks for all the lovely messages, amazing."
During his time on Strictly, Evans came under fire as he appeared to 'grope' partner Katya. The Welsh opera singer, 52, controversially placed his hand on the waist of hisprofessional dance partner before seeming to move it closer to her stomach. In the incident a stony face Katya appeared to brush away his hand as the pair stood side by side.
While many fans were outraged at his apparent "grope", the pair described it as a "silly inside joke". Some, however, failed to buy the apology and explanation and have called the singer's actions inappropriate. It made Katya and Wynne even more determined to squash the backlash and interrupted their appearance on spin-off show It Takes Two.

Getty Images)Katya said: "Sorry Fleur [East], sorry, I will get onto dancing I promise but can I please first get something out of the way that I feel like overshadowed our performance for absolutely no reason and quite frankly, actually, I can't bare sitting here watching this man [Wynne] being portrayed as someone he's not.
"In fact, it couldn't be further away from the truth so I have to make this absolutely clear that this whole incident with the hand and the high five on Saturday night it was an inside joke between Wynne and I. Was it a silly joke? Yes! Was it a bad joke? Yes!" At this point Wynne interjected with: "Yeah and I've watched it back, I can see how people may have misinterpreted it."
Katya went on: "Yeah but however, it was a joke and even the idea that it made me feel 'uncomfortable' or 'offended' in anyway is total nonsense. Those that have doubts, you guys have it got wrong! So hopefully this will be the end of it. You [Wynne] just keep making me smile, please!"
The dancer defended Wynne on Instagram as well as she said: "The hand incident was a very silly inside joke between Wynne and I. So even the idea that it made me feel uncomfortable or offended in any way is complete nonsense. It’s actually absurd. So let’s focus on how brilliantly Wynne Evans is doing and what an amazing dancer he’s becoming.”
Wynne had also found himself at the centre of more drama after a "vulgar" joke he reportedly made behind-the-scenes was "leaked". The opera singer is reported to have joled that his double chin resembled a vagina as he got his make-up done backstage. Insiders told the Mirror that Wynne made the unsavoury joke ahead of the BBC's launch show and was said in a private conversation with a make-up artist.
A source told The Mirror: "It was a bit of a vulgar dad joke." At at least one other person was in the room at the time, adding that the make-up artist was not offended by Wynne's joke. No official complaints were made but some staff were less than pleased. The source added: “Wynne clearly didn’t mean any offence, but you have to be a little bit careful these days.”
The Mirror has contacted the BBC and Wynne's representative for comment.
