Tonight, BET and NAACP proudly celebrated the best in Black culture at the “56th NAACP Image Awards,” hosted by acclaimed comedian, actor, and writer Deon Cole. The evening was a powerful tribute to Black excellence, honoring leaders, visionaries, and creatives making an impact across entertainment, activism, and culture.

Former Vice President Kamala Harris made a homecoming to the “56th NAACP Image Awards” for her first public live television appearance for the prestigious Chairman's Award. As a lifetime NAACP member, the award honored Harris for her historic accomplishments and incredible service legacy to America and our community. BET Media Groupwas honored with the prestigious Founders Award, celebrating 45 years of amplifying Black culture and championing authentic storytelling. Dave Chappelle received the President's Award for outstanding achievements and distinguished public service. Additionally, the Wayans Family was inducted into the NAACP Hall of Fame, an honor bestowed upon trailblazers whose lasting influence continues to shape their industry for generations.

Presenters included Aldis Hodge & Edwin Hodge, Chlöe, Clifton Davis & Karla Mosley, Danielle Deadwyler, David Alan Grier, Don Cheadle, Ego Nwodim, Gabrielle Union, George Wallace, Harold Perrineau, Janelle James, Jay Ellis, Jurnee Smollett, Keke Palmer, Laverne Cox, LL COOL J, Morris Chestnut, Shannon Sharpe, and Taraji P. Henson.

A special segment honored the historically Black community of Altadena, which was impacted by the Eaton wildfires. Actor Morris Chestnut highlighted the community’s resilience and led a standing ovation for the 22 Altadena residents featured in the tribute. A call to action encouraged donations to the Altadena Community Preservation Fund, which aims to provide financial assistance to homeowners and preserve the community’s cultural heritage. GRAMMY¼ Award-winning artist Ledisi, accompanied by the Adam Blackstone Band, performed a powerful medley of “Wholy Holy” & “How I Got Over” with a choir of Altadena residents. 

After honoring those who have passed away with an in memoriam tribute, DJ D-Nice led a special tribute to the late music icon Quincy Jones with a special medley to highlight his enduring legacy and timeless hits. 

MC Lyte was the voice of the evening, returning as the in-show announcer.
