Despite her mega wealth, Susan still cherishes her roots and has remained in her childhood home in Blackburn, West Lothian. Her ex-council house cost her £111,000 - pocket change for someone with Susan's fortune. Despite once splashing out £300K on a five-bedroom property, Susan found it wasn't for her and returned to her treasured family home, reinforcing her belief in staying grounded.
Health
In terms of her health journey, Susan disclosed in a 2016 interview about losing two stone following her diagnosis with Type 2 diabetes. She spoke candidly about her diet changes, remarking: "I needed to stop eating sweeties and cakes. It's the bane of my life."
She suffered a stroke in 2022 and said she "had to fight" her way back after her illness. Susan revealed to STV programme What's on Scotland: "It's taken me three years and it's been hard - I'm not going to pretend otherwise but it's made me determined to keep going." The star said she returned to singing lessons as soon as she felt strong enough after her stroke - and confessed that she is excited for what next year has in store for her, including plans to work on a documentary and a drama.

Romance was also on the cards for the singer, as she met a handsome American doctor while on tour, marking her first-ever romantic relationship. In an exclusive 2016 interview, Susan revealed: "I don't want to reveal the doctor's name. It's nothing serious at the moment. I will send him a picture of my weight loss â if he's a good boy! I do enjoy male companionship."
She also expressed her desire to adopt a child, but joked that her cat might get jealous, saying: "I would love to adopt a child too but my cat might get jealous. I don't want to see a cat and a baby fighting. It's something I might do later." Reflecting on her romance, Susan said: "I did have a gentleman friend, a doctor. We went for lunch but I didn't tell anyone. But if I had a man friend it would be purely platonic - I've been on my own too long now to get married."
Family feud
Susan also experienced a family feud with her brother Gerry, with the pair allegedly not speaking for over two years following rumors that Gerry had threatened to take his own life if Susan didn't give him £50,000. Reports suggest that Susan has given her brother around £400,000 over the years, but fortunately, they have been on good terms since 2016. Susan told the Sunday Mirror: "I'm very happy, it's a great relief and I'm looking to the future with a happy smile. Everything is hunky dory and fantastic."
