The British Academy has unveiled the list of nominations for this year’s Baftas ahead of the ceremony at London’s Royal Festival Hall on February 16th, 2025.
The set of nominations arrives after the announcement of the longlist of films considered for this year’s awards on January 3rd. The second round of voting opened on January 3rd until January 10th, and the results of which have now been unveiled by 2024 EE Rising Star winner Mia McKenna- Bruce and BAFTA-winner Will Sharpe on January 15th.
David Tennant is set to host the Baftas for a second occasion after previously helming proceedings in 2024 with great success.
At this stage, the only confirmed winner of a Bafta is Warwick Davis, who is set to be celebrated with the prestigious Bafta Fellowship on February 16th. The prize honours those who have “made an outstanding and exceptional contribution to film, games or television.”
BAFTA Chair Sara Putt said of bestowing Davis with the honour, “We are delighted to present Warwick Davis the Bafta Fellowship award; our highest honour. Warwick is a talented, much-loved and truly inspiring figure who has captivated audiences over many decades.”
Meanwhile, the Star Wars actor said: “The Fellowship, to me, embodies the spirit of inclusivity, creativity, and collaboration that Bafta stands for. This recognition is not just about the body of work I’ve contributed but also about the people who’ve stood by me and the audiences who have made this journey worthwhile. I accept this Fellowship in honour of everyone living with dwarfism or any form of difference, reminding us that our uniqueness can be our greatest asset.”
