President-elect Donald Trump was "overshadowed" by his son Barron on the day of his inauguration, as the teenager displayed a rare public show of emotion.
The towering six-foot-eight-inch Barron stood out in the crowd at the swearing-in procession, held under the US Capitol's Rotunda, watching his father become the first convicted felon to take the presidential oath. However, many were quick to notice the young man's seldom-seen smile, a departure from his usual stoic expression.
Donald Trump, now the 47th President, has previously hinted at a political career for his youngest son, claiming he has an interest in the field. In December, Mr Trump revealed Barron was the driving force behind his appearance on the popular The Joe Rogan Experience podcast, which has since racked up over 54 million views on YouTube.

One user said: "Future president Barron Trump exchanging a smile and nod with former President Clinton." Images of the 18-year-old smiling throughout his father's inauguration were shared, with one user captioning a picture showing the pair: "Rare wholesome Barron/Trump smile."
Some speculated Barron's smile could be linked to something entirely unrelated to the inauguration, amid the launch of the $BARRON crypto coin following the $TRUMP and $MELANIA cryptocurrencies. Some social media users have dubbed Barron a future president, with some sharing images of him interacting with former president Clinton during the ceremony, the IrishStar reported.
Social media users were quick to react with posts like "Lol - Barron laughing like he knows what he did with $BARRON. I love this," and "Barron is literally licking his lips thinking about all the new exit liquidity for the next 4 years," which dozens shared on platform X, reports the Irish Star.
