After four losses in the category, Beyoncé finally took home the coveted Album of the Year trophy at the Grammy Awards. Her latest album, Cowboy Carter, helped the singer hold her position as the most nominated and awarded artist in Grammy history. After two members of the Los Angeles Fire Department presented her the award, Beyoncé thanked the first responders for their work combating the LA wildfires.
As fires raged across LA, some wondered if the Grammys would take place. While the ceremony went ahead as planned, organizers aimed to raise money and awareness of those impacted by the tragedy. This meant bringing firefighters onstage to present Album of the Year. Beyoncé hugged both firefighters as she accepted the award.
“I’d like to thank and acknowledge and praise all the firefighters for keeping us safe,” she said to open her speech.

She went on to thank her collaborators and acknowledge the years of nominations without wins.
“I just feel very full and very honored,” she said. “It’s been many, many years, and I just want to thank the Grammys, every songwriter, every collaborator, every producer, all of the hard work.”
She dedicated her win to Linda Martell, a groundbreaking Black country singer.
“I want to dedicate this to Ms. Martell, and I hope we just keep pushing forward, opening doors,” she said. “God bless y’all. Thank you so much.”
Earlier in the evening, Beyoncé also won Best Country Album, to her apparent shock. In 2024, she received zero nominations at the Country Music Awards despite Cowboy Carter’s critical acclaim.
“I’d like to thank all of the incredible country artists that accepted this album,” she said in her acceptance speech. “We worked so hard on it. I think sometimes genre is a code word to keep us in our place as artists, and I just wanna encourage people to do what they’re passionate about and to stay persistent.”
She worked with a number of other artists on the album and thanked them in her speech.
“Wow, I’d like to thank my beautiful family, all of the artists that were collaborators,” she said. “Thank you. This wouldn’t have been this album without you. I’d like to thank God again and my fans, and I still am in shock, so thank you so much for this honor.”
Cowboy Carter followed Renaissance, another Album of the Year nominated release. While it may have felt like a difficult album to follow, Beyoncé said she does not focus on perfectionism when she releases music.
“I create at my own pace, on things that I hope will touch other people,” she told GQ, adding, “I hope my work encourages people to look within themselves and come to terms with their own creativity, strength, and resilience. I focus on storytelling, growth, and quality.”

She said working on her most recent album felt freeing.
“I focus on evolution, innovation, and shifting perception,” she said. “Working on the music for Cowboy Carter and launching this exciting new project feel nothing like prison, nor a burden. In fact, I only work on what liberates me. It is fame that can at times feel like prison. So, when you don’t see me on red carpets, and when I disappear until I have art to share, that’s why.”
