Big Brother star Chris 'feels zero attraction' for JoJo despite romantic antics
According to a body language and behavioural expert, Celebrity Big Brother stars Chris Hughes and JoJo Siwa are simply 'emotionally intelligent friends' and not love interests

Celebrity Big Brother stars Chris Hughes and JoJo Siwa do not see each other romantically - a body language expert has insisted - despite ITV viewers being left convinced that the housemates have fallen in love with one another.
The unlikely pair have struck up an incredibly close bond since entering the iconic house last week, and it appears that their connection is only growing stronger as other housemates - including Ella Rae Wise - have insisted that they have isolated themselves from the rest of the group.
Article continues belowAs their connection grows stronger, viewers have become increasingly confused about the nature of their relationship - with some suggesting that it appears to be more romantic than friendly - despite the fact that JoJo has a girlfriend back in LA.
Over the past couple of days, it seems that Chris, 32, and JoJo, 21, haven't been able to keep their hands off one another as they are continuously touching, massaging, tickling, hugging, and kissing one another. This has naturally made some viewers question JoJo's loyalty to her girlfriend Kath Ebbs, who she has been seeing since November.
Their connection has caused further controversy due to the large age-gap between them. When Chris first shot to fame in 2017 on Love Island, when was 24-years-old. At the same time, JoJo was in the height of her Nickelodeon career, and while Chris was making moves in the famous villa, JoJo was only 13-years-old.
However, a body language expert has now put the speculation of any romance between the unlikely pair to bed. Body language and behavioural expert Dr Dawson has now unpacked the latest dynamics between JoJo and Chris in the Celebrity Big Brother house - but she doesn't think there is anything romantic going on between the two of them.
"Celebrity Big Brother fans are a bit confused about JoJo and Chris’s flirty behaviour. I’ve watched their interactions closely, and to me, what we’re seeing isn’t romance, it’s just human behaviour under pressure," says Dr Dawson. "This kind of dynamic is totally normal in confined, high-stress environments.
"It helps explain why people can suddenly feel drawn to each other during tense moments and why so many workplace romances happen, for example. It all comes down to a mix of psychology, biology, and social dynamics," she adds. "In a restrained environment like the CBB house, there’s often a real build-up of emotional energy: stress, boredom, frustration, anxiety. And that tension needs an outlet."
The expert further suggests: "Flirtation becomes a kind of pressure valve: playful, low-stakes, and socially acceptable. It’s not necessarily about wanting someone romantically. Sometimes it’s more like saying, “I can’t cry or leave... but I can flirt.” Flirting is one of the quickest ways to create a bond. It’s not always about attraction: sometimes it’s about comfort, survival, or strategy.
"That’s what I think we’re seeing with Chris and JoJo. There’s a moment where Chris scratches JoJo’s back after a tense interaction with Mickey Rourke and to me, that is about reassurance and comfort than flirtation in the traditional sense. Moments like this can help people secure loyalty, avoid conflict, or just feel safe. That kind of closeness can be read as flirtation, but it might be something softer: a way of saying I’ve got you without words."
Ultimately, the body language expert doesn't feel there is anything remotely romantic between the two - meaning that JoJo's girlfriend will have nothing to worry about. "Flirtatious behaviour in restrained environments isn’t always about fancying someone. It’s about regulating emotion, building bonds, reclaiming control, and sometimes even performing a version of yourself to others.
Article continues below"While Chris and JoJo’s interactions have sparked a lot of speculation, what I see is an emotionally intelligent friendship that’s developed in a high-pressure setting. There’s trust, comfort, and a genuine connection and that can sometimes look like flirtation from the outside. It's all about human connection and survival in a high-pressure situation, not attraction."
