The TV Choice Awards arrived in London and while there were a number of regular winners, some snubs are sure to have came as a surprise.
The event has become a highlight of the showbiz calendar and this year was no difference as it brought in the 28th annual event. After the glitz and glamour took their place on the red carpet and in the audience, the ceremony saw some of Britain’s biggest celebrity names scoop the most coveted trophies in the industry, as voted by the British viewing public.
There were wins once again for the likes of I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here, who bagged an impressive 19th award at the ceremony. A number of other favourites added to their haul over the years, with the likes of Call The Midwife and Gogglebox also being honoured.

However, EastEnders fans would have been stunned to discover the long-running BBC soap wasn't able to bag any gongs. Instead, the London-based soap lost out to ITV's Emmerdale on the coveted Best Soap Award. The Best Soap Newcomer also saw an Emmerdale cast member win, with Beth Cordingly scooping the award. And the Best Soap Performance also went to ITV, with Peter Ash and Coronation Street victorious.
The This Morning crew had been accustomed to winning the awards over the years, too. However, they were snubbed in the latest ceremony. Best Daytime Show was awarded to BBC 1's Escape To The Country. This Morning also missed out last year with Animal Park voted the winner.
Elsewhere, The Wheel triumphed for the first time as it fought off competition to win the award for Best Game Show. And it was a night of celebration for Channel 5, as alongside wins for two shows, it was crowned our readers’ Favourite Channel/Streaming Site.
Emotions also ran high as Si King took home the Best Food Show prize for The Hairy Bikers Go West. The series was the final one he made with his much-missed screen partner Dave Myers. Brenda Blethyn was also a winner on the night. She was awarded the Outstanding Contribution Award in recognition of her 14 series as Northumberland’s no-nonsense detective, Vera.
