Former couple Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are battling each other in court once again as they try to settle a $250m lawsuit over their French winery.
The exes' long-running legal battle over their winery has headed to trial following their divorce in 2019, which quickly led to a war over their assets. Angelina and Brad's French vineyard Chateau Miraval Winery has played a crucial role in the proceedings. Their estate, which produces award-winning sparkling rosé, set the former couple back around 25 million euros (£21.3million).
At the end of 2024, the former couple finally reached an agreement in their vicious eight-year divorce. Jolie’s lawyer said the Maria actress has been left “exhausted” after the long-running battle over their children and £319m fortune. Jolie and Pitt were Hollywood’s most famous A-list for 12 years, two of them as a married couple.
The Oscar winners have six children together. Jolie filed for divorce in 2016 after a private jet flight from Europe during which she said Pitt was abusive towards her and their children. The couple’s use of the private judge – an increasingly common move among splitting celebrities– has kept the proceedings and details of the divorce largely under wraps.

Some elements of their disputes, however, have been revealed through a separate lawsuit filed by Pitt over Jolie’s sale of her half of a French winery the two owned together. The couple married at their estate in Correns in 2014, yet following their split Jolie has filed motions to dismiss claims that Pitt made against her.
It is over a verbal agreement over their 50-50 ownership of the vineyard. She has argued that the agreement had been nullified after Pitt requested she signed an NDA regarding their marriage. Jolie may have violated the agreement when she sold her shares of the chateau to Stoli Group, a Luxembourg-based spirits manufacturer in 2021. The company is owned by Russian oligarch Yuri Shefler.
Pitt's lawyers have said Jolie violated the deal to not sell their respective stakes without both parties' permission. The former couple are set to face each other in court this week, yet are not expected to be present. Their fight has been dubbed “The War of the Rosés”.
Since their separation, three of their six children have dropped their dad's last name. It was reported in 2023 that their eldest daughter Zahara, 19, had got rid of Pitt from her name, after introducing herself as "Zahara Jolie" when she arrived at a sorority at Spelman College in Atlanta, Georgia.
It has since been said that Vivienne, who is the youngest daughter, born with her twin brother Knox back in 2008, has also decided to follow suit. In May it was reported that their daughter Shiloh would also be the same upon her 18th birthday, which she did. According to a source close to the 60-year-old Babylon star, he sees his daughter’s life decision as another indication he has "lost his children."
