Bradley Walsh reveals real reason he never goes out with The Chasers
The Chaser's host was speaking on a recent episode of the Guess Who's Coming To Dinner? podcast.
Bradley Walsh has opened up about why he doesn't catch up with the Chasers outside of filming for the hit ITV quiz show.
Speaking on the Guess Who's Coming To Dinner? podcast, the 64-year-old presenter shared with host Tim Lihoreau that despite the camaraderie on set, socialising after hours just doesn't happen.
He revealed: "No, we don't (go out for dinner)."
The reason, Bradley explained, is due to the tight schedule and strict management of the show. He elaborated: "When we're working, when we're in the studio, they are very strict indeed. So what they do is, and this is serious, they will do their show (the Chasers) and I don't know what Chaser we're going to have."
Bradley has been presenting the show since it first aired in 2009 (Image: Dave J Hogan/Getty Images)He continued, detailing the production process: "So we shoot three (episodes) a day, the executive producers will choose three Chasers to turn up that day, so I don't know which three Chasers they are, so when they literally come across the bridge. I don't know who's coming across the bridge, they literally walk on so I don't know," reports Bristol Live.
Bradley went on to say that because the Chasers are often required for shooting the next day, there's little opportunity for them to hang out after filming: "When they've finished the show they go home and they swap for the following day in case they're needed for the following day. So they very rarely go out."
During the podcast, Bradley confirmed that his laughter on the show is entirely genuine, as he is not privy to the questions before quizzing contestants. With a career spanning five decades, Bradley has taken on numerous roles in television.
He is perhaps best known for his role as Danny Baldwin in the long-running ITV soap Coronation Street, a character he portrayed for two years before leaving the show. Subsequent acting roles included appearances in Law and Order: UK and the popular BBC series Doctor Who from 2017 to 2021.
Beyond his acting work, Bradley has become a familiar face on our screens as the presenter of ITV's The Chase since its debut in June 2009. Over time, it has grown into one of the most watched game shows in the UK.
