As if to prove it, Trump escalated within 10 hours of his initial tariffs taking effect.

“Please explain to Governor Trudeau, of Canada, that when he puts on a retaliatory tariff on the U.S., our reciprocal tariff will immediately increase by a like amount,” he wrote on Truth Social.

That would mean 50 per cent tariffs on many goods (excepting oil, presumably) that Canada sells to the U.S.

Much trade would be economically impossible. Businesses would start shutting down immediately on both sides of the border.

This is no trade war. It’s a crush-and-control Canada plan, meant to work fast.

Trudeau said several times that our fight is with Trump, not the American people. So did Ontario Premier Doug Ford.
