Britain's Got Talent viewers have same complaint as first episode airs
Britain's Got Talent viewers rushed to social media to complain about the same issue as the first episode of the brand new series aired on ITV
Britain's Got Talent viewers expressed the same grievance just minutes into the show as they tuned in to watch the first episode of the brand new series tonight. The popular talent show is back on ITV as the 18th series kicks off.
Head judge Simon Cowell returns, alongside TV star Amanda Holden, singer Alesha Dixon, former Strictly Come Dancing judge Bruno Tonioli and guest judge and social media sensation KSI. However, fans watching at home were quick to point out a 'ridiculous' feature in the first episode that left them annoyed before the first audition had even been shown.
The first episode, which showcases the first auditions held in Blackpool, began with a compilation of some of the series highlights that viewers will get to see over the next few weeks. During the first few minutes of the show viewers watched Simon feature in a skit as the 'King'.
But it left viewers frustrated as they were left waiting to see the auditions, with several branding the build up "ridiculous". "I forgot how long it takes to actually show the first audition," one fan wrote on X.
"Get on with it, enough of the spoilers!" another viewer wrote. Another posted a picture of a skeleton sat on the sofa and captioned it: "Waiting for the intro to end," reports the Manchester Evening News.
A fourth viewer wrote: "Well we just watched the entire series of best bits in the spoiler." While another added: "The amount of time they waste before showing us a single act is ridiculous."
One viewer keenly calculated the wait time for performances, highlighting: "Eight minutes (10% of the show) before we were shown an actual performance." For the latest TV and showbiz gossip sign up to our newsletter
This year introduces a change in the live semi-finals format, with episodes airing weekly rather than nightly as in previous years, extending the duration of the series. Britain's Got Talent has been showcasing talents since 2007 and its hall of fame includes tenor Paul Potts and dance troupe Diversity, while last year's title was clinched by vocalist Sydnie Christmas with her rendition of 'Somewhere Over The Rainbow' in the finals.
The winner of the series is awarded a hefty ÂŁ250,000 prize alongside the prestigious chance to perform at the Royal Variety Performance.
