Britain's Got Talent viewers issue same complaint minutes into first semi-final
Britain's Got Talent viewers weren't impressed when Ant and Dec announced a new twist during the first semi-final
Britain's Got Talent viewers issued the same complaint minutes into first live semi-final on Saturday (April 26).
The hit ITV talent show went live from the Eventim Apollo with eight acts competing in the first semi-final of the series.
Akira, Auzzy Blood, Eden Choi, Heavysaurus and Teddy Magic will take to the stage, alongside golden buzzer recipients Linda Mudzenda, The Blackouts and Vinnie McKee.
As well as the semi-finals being shown every week instead of every night in the half term, the broadcaster previously confirmed that the live shows will feature another surprise twist.
Each semi-final will see either one of the judges or Ant and Dec being given control of the golden buzzer. As soon as they see a performance worthy of a place in the final, they will have just one opportunity to press it.
The successful act will be granted a one-way ticket to the grand final, along with one other act from that night who will be voted in by the public.
Amanda Holden was the first person to be put in control of the coveted buzzer during tonight's show.
"No! Why me first?" a shocked Amanda said after learning of her responsibilty, adding: "Well, why have you given me that responsibilty straight away?"
She continued: "It's a massive responsibility, I thought [Simon Cowell] would get it because he's in charge."
However, many fans weren't impressed with the new twist, with many taking to X (formerly Twitter) to share their frustration.
"A golden buzzer could go to the same person twice in one series. What a load of nonsense," one person wrote, with another adding: "They are obsessed with the golden buzzers?! Why?"
A third fan said: "Getting the judges to pick a golden buzzer act doesnāt seem fair, of course whoever is in charge if their golden buzzer act is preforming theyāre going to pick them."
A fourth viewer echoed the sentiment, saying: "They've gone golden buzzer mad. Ridiculous."
The disapproval continued when a group of singing dinosaurs took to the stage first, with one person writing: "Oh FFS why are these bloody dinosaurs in the live shows."
Another disgruntled fan added: "Garbage. Off," while a third said: "Karaoke dinosaurs in a semi final doesnt vibe with me."
