Bruce Glover, a prolific Hollywood and Broadway actor and the father of Crispin Glover, has died at the age of 92.
Throughout his career, Glover appeared in over 100 movies and television series. His film credits included the James Bond instalment Diamond Are Forever, in which he played the assassin Mr Wint, Roman Polanski’s Chinatown, and Walter Hill’s Hard Times. His television credits included popular series like Perry Mason, Murder, She Wrote, and Mission: Impossible.
In the 1960s, Glover was able to work with some of the greatest actors of all time on stage, including Bette Davis in The Night of the Iguana and Anne Bancroft in Mother Courage and Her Children.
He was born in 1932 in Chicago and attended art school before finding his way into acting through an unusual route. During a 2015 interview on the podcast James Bond Radio, he recounted that one of his classmates asked him to put on a gorilla suit and ‘toss her around’ during her striptease act.
After serving in the Korean War in the mid-50s, Glover began working in television and quickly gained steam as a character actor in the 1960s and ‘70s.
Later in his career, he collaborated with his late wife, dancer Marion Elizabeth Lillian ‘Betty’ Krachey, and son Crispin on the independent film It Is Fine! Everything Is Fine. The younger Glover also created a feature film vehicle for himself and his father, which he shot in the Czech Republic and which is now in post-production.
Crispin Glover announced his father’s passing in a post on Instagram, sharing a family photo of himself as a child with his parents and the caption, “Bruce Herbert Glover May 2, 1932 – March 12, 2025.”
No cause of death was given.
