It's no secret that Caitlin Clark is a massive fan of Taylor Swift. The WNBA Rookie of the Year has been open about her love for the pop superstar, praising her for her talent on the stage during her record-breaking "Eras Tour."

After attending the show, Swift gifted the basketball player a goodie basket full of show merch and told the young hooper that she'd be interested in hanging out. Luckily for them, they're both huge fans of the Kansas City Chiefs, so their first public outing at Arrowhead Stadium made perfect sense.

During a recent interview, Caitlin Clark discussed what made hanging out with her favorite celebrity so special.

Clark has had a standout year. In addition to setting and breaking records in the WNBA, the 23-year-old was named TIME's Athlete of the Year. During her interview, she spoke highly of her favorite artist, Swift.

She recalled the special moment when she attended back-to-back shows of the "Eras Tour" in November 2024. The Indiana Fever point guard noted that Swift's fans were so sweet toward her, "going crazy that I’m there," she said. “I thought people would be so in their own world, ready to see Taylor. And it was just completely the opposite."

Clark also mentioned the "four bags" of tour merchandise Swift sent her, which came with a personalized letter noting Swift's admiration of Clark. The Grammy-winning singer also invited Clark to a Chiefs game before saying she and Travis Kelce hoped to see her play in Indiana.

Luckily for Clark, Swift kept her promise and invited her to the Chiefs' game against the Houston Texans on January 18, 2025.

When speaking with 247Sports, Clark described the experience, calling it "so much fun," before mentioning how passionate Swift is about seeing Kelce play.

"It's just cute to see how excited she is for the Chiefs," Clark said.

Clark Loves The Chiefs

It could be easy to think that some recent Kansas City Chiefs fans are only cheering for the team because of Swift. However, that's not the case for Clark.

During an episode of Kelce's "New Heights" podcast, the athlete explained that her love for the Chiefs began at an early age.

According to Clark, her family ties to Kansas made it easy for the Fever star to join the Chiefs' kingdom.

"People think I'm, like, a bandwagon Chiefs fan," she said. "I was there before Patrick [Mahomes] and Kelce."

She kept the same energy during her conversation with 247, too, saying she's "been a huge Chiefs fan," and she was grateful to watch them alongside Swift.

Although Clark had a tremendous rookie season in the WNBA, she still faced a lot of criticism. Her relationship with fellow WNBA superstar Angel Reese has been at the forefront of the conversation, with fans and analysts weighing in.

Of course, the buzz took off following their matchup in the 2023 National Championship game, where Reese waved her hand in Clark's face, pointing to her finger. Since then, discussion around the two young ladies has only intensified, subjecting them both to extreme scrutiny.

While chatting with TIME, Clark spoke candidly about the made-up feud the public has created between them.

“I don’t get that at all,” said Clark. “We’re not best friends by any means, but we’re very respectful of one another,” she continued. “Yes, we have had tremendous battles. But when have I ever guarded her? And when has she guarded me?”

Clark continued, blasting critics for focusing on the wrong things. “The only thing people cared about was this controversy that was really fabricated and made up, and then that has continued to be the case ever since.”

Clark Snubbed From The 2024 Olympic Team

After a stellar collegiate season, many sports fans expected to see Clark's name on the Olympic roster for the 2024 Summer Games. However, to the surprise of many, Clark, who was drafted first overall, did not make the team.

Some of the players who did make the team were three-time MVP A'ja Wilson, Diana Taurasi, and Britney Griner.

Clark told reporters at the time that she wasn't "disappointed," as she understood "it's the most competitive team in the world." Sports commentators, on the other hand, shared different feelings.

"This is about what I will personally label 'The Idiocy of Team USA Women's Basketball,'" Stephen A. Smith said. "How dare you make this decision. It's stupid."

"It was a stupid decision. Because it compromises what your ultimate goal is, which is to elevate the WNBA brand," he added. "How could you be that idiotic and not make that call when, throughout history, Team USA has been, in part, about marketing? It's dumb, period."
