Cameron Diaz has made a stunning return to the red carpet following a five-year hiatus.

The 52-year-old Charlie's Angels star was a picture of elegance and effortless glamour at the premiere of her new Netflix film Back in Action, marking her first major appearance since stepping away from Hollywood almost a decade ago.

On the red carpet, she reunited with Back in Action co-star Jamie Foxx.

Cameron turned heads in a sheer black blouse paired with a sleek black tank top, allowing her natural beauty to take center stage.

She accessorized with high-waisted jeans and classic penny loafers, while a long black trench coat with a subtle iridescent sheen added an air of sophistication and drama to her look.

The actress posed alongside a dapper Foxx, her co-star from the 2014 Annie remake, which marked her last major film project before taking a break from the industry.

Though she’s kept a low profile, Cameron made a splash in 2019 when she joined Drew Barrymore and Demi Moore to celebrate Lucy Liu’s star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame—marking her last red carpet appearance until now.

The 52-year-old Charlie's Angels star was a picture of elegance and effortless glamour at the premiere of her new Netflix film Back in Action, where she reunited with co-star Jamie Foxx

The Netflix movie, which is set for release on January 17, follows Emily (Cameron) and Matt (Jamie), two former CIA agents who have given up their life of espionage and action in order to settle down, start a family, and live a normal life.

However, things don't go so smoothly for them as their identities become compromised and they are forced to fight and run in order to protect those closest to them.

The new action comedy, directed by Seth Gordon, 48, serves as a comeback for both Jamie and Cameron as Jamie suffered a stroke in 2023 and Cameron quit acting for family reasons in 2014.

Previously Cameron told Empire she returned to acting purely to work with Jamie again following Any Given Sunday and Annie.

She said: 'I thought that if I was going to come back and do a movie, the only person I’d come back and do it with would be this guy (Foxx).'

'Seriously. I had other opportunities along the way and I was always saying "No. I’m not doing it, I’ve told you... What? Jamie asked? Jamie? Oh, I can do a movie with Jamie!"'

The cast list for the film also includes Kyle Chandler, Glenn, Andrew Scott, Jamie Demetriou, Jamie Demetriou, and Rylan Jackson.

The 52-year-old officially retired from her Hollywood career in 2018, before being lured back by her close friend Jamie to star alongside him in the action comedy.

Cameron first rose to fame in the late '90s with breakout roles in The Mask and There's Something About Mary, quickly becoming one of Hollywood’s most sought-after actresses

Over the years, she starred in iconic films like Charlie's Angels and Shrek, showcasing her versatility in both action-packed and animated roles

Cameron stepped away from acting in 2014 to focus on her personal life and business ventures

The pair appeared to be enjoying their time on the red carpet

Cameron married musician Benji Madden in January 2015, and the couple welcomed their first child, a daughter named Raddix, in December 2019

The pair has kept their family life largely private, focusing on their close-knit, supportive relationship while balancing their personal and professional lives

But her comeback project was thrown into turmoil in 2023 when it was reported that Jamie 'had an absolute meltdown' on the UK set of the movie, which led to the firing of three people.

And in March 2023, a source close to the star revealed that - while Cameron didn't have any issues with Jamie - she likely won't return to the world of film after this movie, because she's had a hard time being away from her family and hates the 'drama and confrontation' that so often erupts on movie sets.

Speaking exclusively to DailyMail.com the source said: 'These back-to-back 10-hour workdays have been a lot on her and she hates being away from Raddix.'

They added: 'Cameron loves being a mom more than anything in the world.'

She said: 'I thought that if I was going to come back and do a movie, the only person I’d come back and do it with would be this guy (Foxx)'

Though she’s kept a low profile, Cameron made a splash in 2019 when she joined Drew Barrymore and Demi Moore to celebrate Lucy Liu ’s star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame—marking her last red carpet appearance until now

'She hates drama and confrontation. This is why she retired from the business in the first place,'

'She has already proven herself in the industry and has nothing left to prove to anyone.'

Cameron famously walked away from Hollywood in 2018 to spend more time with her rocker husband Benji, Madden 45.

The two welcomed their daughter in December 2019 and have been incredibly private about their lives as parents to their three-year-old.

Bored by watching tennis on TV? The Australian Open is animating matches with Wii-like characters - Sports

MELBOURNE, Australia (AP) — Maybe attending sports events in person is too been-there, done-that in the modern age. So, apparently, is watching the actual action on a TV, laptop or phone. The Australian Open is getting in on the newest trend in the sports world by re-creating tennis matches in video-game form. The year's first Grand Slam tournament, which runs through Jan. 26, is streaming real-time animated feeds on its YouTube channel that mimic what's happening in the three main stadiums. Players are represented by characters that look like something out of a Wii game — not exactly perfect portrayals of Coco Gauff or Novak Djokovic, perhaps, but the graphics do try to show the correct outfit colors or hats and bandanas the athletes are wearing and reflect what is happening in the matches, with about a one-point delay. “Sometimes I think it’s a very accurate (depiction) of the actual player that’s playing. So it’s weird. It’s funny and weird,” said 2021 U.S. Open finalist Leylah Fernandez, who will face Gauff in the third round Friday. “I did not see myself just yet. Maybe I will. Now I’m curious, because I’ve seen different players ... and I think I want to watch myself, too.” Tennis Australia created its own “skins” to represent players, chair umpires and ball persons. “The wonderful part of it is it’s the players’ actual movement. It’s the actual trajectory of the ball,” Machar Reid, Tennis Australia’s director of innovation, told The Associated Press. “We’re taking the real into the unreal. That’s part of the magic.” Carlos Alcaraz, a four-time Grand Slam champion at age 21, called it “a good alternative.” Like many players preparing for future opponents, Fernandez often scours YouTube to try to find footage of past matches to aid with scouting. That, Fernandez said with a chuckle, is how she accidentally discovered the cartoonish replays from Melbourne Park that have been creating a buzz among the competitors. She was having trouble finding a certain match when she noticed a thumbnail photo of two players, Fernandez said. “So I click on it and think, ’This is it! Finally! I have one,'” Fernandez said. Nope. It’s a Wii character, which is hilarious.” Jiri Lehecka, a Czech player seeded 24th in Australia, was checking social media the other day when he came across a “replay” of 2021 U.S. Open champion Daniil Medvedev's avatar destroying a net camera by smacking it repeatedly with his racket during a first-round victory. “I had no idea that something like that exists, so for me, it was quite funny to see that,” Lehecka said. “Maybe I will see myself as a game character one day. We will see.” To get the chance, he'll need to play a match in Rod Laver Arena, Margaret Court Arena or John Cain Arena. Tennis Australia first experimented with this on one court during last year's tournament, hoping to attract gamers and a younger audience to the sport. The NFL, NBA and NHL also have tried this type of approach, using animation for alternate game telecasts. The 2024 debut in Melbourne “was kind of in stealth and didn’t necessarily capture the world’s imagination. But this year, we’ve seen that happening,” Reid said. The streams in the first four days of the event this week drew more than 950,000 views, according to Tennis Australia; the figure for the same time period in 2024 was about 140,000. “It’s part of our DNA to innovate and try to challenge the status quo or, in this instance, provide experiences to different groups of fans that are more personalized for them to consume,” Reid said. “We’re seeing younger kids or the gaming demographic gravitating to the sport maybe in this way. Clearly, it’s not for everyone.” Might this eventually became the No. 1 way fans “watch” sports? “Not in my lifetime and not in yours, I don’t think. But who knows? The world of sport and entertainment is moving so, so quickly,” Reid said. “But I think we’re always going to be drawn to the amazing athletes doing their thing in front of our very eyes.” ___ Howard Fendrich has been the AP’s tennis writer since 2002.
