Carlos Santana Recovering from Health Diagnosis After Postponing Two Concerts, Reveals Tour Date Return
Carlos Santana is recovering from illness after postponing two concerts, and is scheduled to resume his tour starting April 25.
Carlos Santana is scheduled to return to the stage later this week after postponing two shows in Texas because of illness.
As previously reported, the guitar legend collapsed during a soundcheck on Tuesday, April 22, prior to Santana’s concert in San Antonio. He was taken to a nearby hospital, where it was determined that he was experiencing dehydration.

After that show was postponed, Carlos’ manager, Michael Vrionis, issued a statement on Wednesday, April 23, giving an update on the 77-year-old musician’s health and also announcing the postponement of an additional concert.
“As some of you are aware, we postponed [Tuesday] night’s show in San Antonio,” Vrionis said. “Unfortunately, out of an abundance of caution, the decision was made to also postpone [Wednesday] evening’s show in Sugar Land. Carlos experienced dehydration yesterday, and has since tested positive for [the SARS-CoV-2 virus].”

The manager added, “I am happy to report that Carlos is doing well and will be back on his US Tour this Friday [April 25] in Thackerville, OK. We appreciate everyone’s well wishes and concern. Carlos is looking forward to seeing you all very soon.”
The message also asks fans who purchased tickets to the San Antonio and Sugar Land concerts to hang onto them. The ticket holders will be notified soon about rescheduled dates for the shows.
Santana kicked off its 2025 Oneness Tour on April 16 in Highland, California. The band had played just three concerts for the postponed show in San Antonio.
Carlos has experienced a number of health issues in recent years. In 2021, he underwent heart surgery. Then, a year later, he collapsed on stage while performing in the Detroit area. At the time, his manager reported that the guitarist had been “overtaken by heat exhaustion and dehydration.”
More recently, Carlos also delayed a series of Las Vegas residency shows in January and February after breaking two fingers on his left hand in a fall at his home in Hawaii and.
Santana has more than 50 upcoming concerts shows scheduled for 2025.
They include U.S. and European legs of the Oneness Tour, and multiple Las Vegas engagements as part of Carlos and his band’s long-running residency at the House of Blues.
Santana’s itinerary runs from the April 25 concert in Thackerville, Oklahoma, through a November 16 performance in lAs Vegas.
Santana released a new album titled Sentient on March 28. The 11-track retrospective collection includes remastered versions of a variety previously released songs featuring Carlos collaborating with a number of other famous artists.
Among the guest stars appearing on the various tracks are Smokey Robinson, Darryl “DMC” McDaniels, and the late Michael Jackson and Miles Davis. Sentient also includes three previously unreleased recordings.
