Carole Malone slams Meghan Markle's 'attempt to be the next Martha Stewart'
Express columnist Carole Malone hit out at the TV series, which showcases Meghan's culinary abilities.
Meghan Markleâs latest Netflix project has come under fire, with Express columnist Carole Malone criticizing the Duchess for portraying herself as a "housewife" and attempting to be "Martha Stewart".
Markle's series is the latest installment from her and Harry's multi-million dollar deal with the streaming giant. The lifestyle show, called With Love, Meghan, came out today.
In it Markle shows off her culinary skills while hosting celebrity guests at her family home. As she cooks, the Duchess of Sussex shares her personal insights into topics like self-care and mindfulness.
During a discussion on GB News, broadcaster Carole Malone expressed strong disapproval of the series, arguing that Meghan does not fit the image she is trying to portray on the programme.
Malone told the GB News panel: "People do need to have a go at Meghan. I'm not interested in it - she's not a housewife, she's not Martha Stewart.
"Martha is obsessed with and always has been obsessed with housekeeping, gardening, cooking - Meghan hasn't."
Drawing a pointed comparison to the Princess of Wales, who recently shared her personal plum jam recipe, Malone suggested that Kate Middleton may have deliberately timed the reveal of her recipe and her jam collaboration under the As Ever lifestyle brand to contrast with Meghanâs latest project.
Malone added: "I just think this is all nonsense. But I love the fact that when Kate went to Wales on a visit, she gave her recipe for plum jam away for free, while Meghan's trying to make a shed load of money out of hers.
"I would like to think Kate did that on purpose, just to have a go at Meghan."
Former Conservative MP Sir Jake Berry also weighed in, arguing that the Netflix series presents an unrealistic version of motherhood and family life.
Berry explained: "There was a behind-the-scenes shot where Meghan saying, this is what it's like to be a normal mum, and she'd sort of lined up freshly cut fruit on a plate in a rainbow with all the same coloured fruits.
"I've got three kids, that's not my experience of feeding the Berry tribe. It's just, get it on a plate, put it in front of them, eat your dinner. We don't have music in the background, we're not all wearing matching beige outfits. It is not the real world."
Commentator Suzy Stride admitted she had little interest in Meghanâs latest project and prefers watching content about "inspirational people".
Stride told GB News: "I'm going to be honest with you, I'm more interested in the real world, more interested in inspiring people.
"I like to watch things about inspiring people - I enjoyed the David Beckham documentary. Meghan may well be an inspiration to people, but I don't know enough about her to tell you whether she is or not."
Sheâs stirring up controversy with this pasta dish.
