Celebrity Bear Hunt: Official trailer
A frightening experience out at sea led to Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen breaking down in tears on Celebrity Bear Hunt.
Laurence, 59, is among the contestants on the Netflix show, which launched on Wednesday. Set in Costa Rica, it follows twelve celebrities as they "become prey" for adventurer Bear Grylls, 50, and compete in a series of challenges. It was previously reported that interior designer Laurence pushed him too far in one challenge. The incident has now aired in the third episode of the show and Laurence said in a scene that he had thought he was having a heart attack.
The challenge saw four of the contestants divided into two teams. Laurence was paired up with actor Kola Bokinni for the task, whilst the rival team consisted of former Spice Girls member Mel B and TV presenter Steph McGovern. The two teams had to jump off a moving boat into the sea before collecting supply bags in the water. They had to also release rescue craft anchors and then pull their raft, along with the supply bags, back to shore. Once there, they would need to put the bags in a designated area and set off a flare. The first team to finish the challenge would be the winners.
After jumping off the boat, Laurence headed to his team's raft, whilst his teammate swam towards supply bags. Once he reached the raft though, Laurence appeared to struggle to then pull himself onto it from the water.

Moments later he was heard saying: "I can't breathe." Bear subsequently swam over to him for support and a safety team ended up taking Laurence out of the water. Whilst on the shore, he was given an oxygen mask. He reflected at one point: "I really did think that I was having a heart attack."
Laurence didn't return to the challenge and after it ended he was seen beside the other celebrities on the shore, still in an oxygen mask. Host Holly Willoughby checked on him and he said: "I'm fine." Asked what happened, he said: "I got tangled up under the raft. But luckily [Bear was there], thank you!" It was hinted that he would receive further treatment before taking on any further challenges on the show.

Reflecting in a confessional, teary-eyed Laurence said: "I got sort of a bit caught up under the raft, and, uh, I became a very panicky old man. You know, I was just really silly. I kind of y'know ..." As his voice broke, he added: "I sort of threw myself at it a bit too hard. But there we go. Live and learn."
Later, he told other co-stars: "Basically, what happened, I got overtired and I got panicked and I got caught up in the raft. And I didn't master the way that I was feeling so my breathing got worse and worse and worse and worse."
Celebrity Bear Hunt is available on Netflix.
