Celebrity Traitors: from Stephen Fry to Paloma Faith, who’s been confirmed?

There are a lot of big names here, most of whom have never appeared on reality TV before

It was inevitable. The BBC’s hit show The Traitors has been drawing in millions of viewers since it first launched in 2022 – so of course, a celebrity edition of the show has been announced.

And what an edition it is. The lineup is packed with some of the biggest stars in the UK today. There are actors, comedians and even Olympian athletes – and all of them will presumably be descending upon a remote Scottish castle sometime soon, for two weeks of backstabbing, deceit and betrayal.

For those who haven’t dipped a toe in before, the premise of the show is pleasingly simple. A group of 19 contestants descend upon a remote castle in the Scottish Highlands, cut off from society. One or two of the contestants are Traitors, tasked with ‘murdering’ their fellow contestants each night. The rest are Faithfuls, who have the power to ‘banish’ those they think are guilty.

At stake is a £20,000 prize pot, and if a Traitor makes it to the final round without being detected, they get to take it all. Though that bit will likely be tweaked for the celebrity edition (do they really need more money?), one thing will remain the same: heaps and heaps of drama.

With the full lineup now announced, here’s who’s confirmed to be taking part.

Stephen Fry

Stephen Fry is one of the biggest names in UK showbiz: an author, a presenter on the show QI and an actor – among other things. He’s also, apparently, a secret Traitors fan – so it makes sense that he’d be joining the others in the castle this year.

Alan Carr

The chatty man himself has never taken part in a reality TV show before – but that’s about to change.

“Bosses are thrilled at the kind of scenes that could play out as he grapples with the more sensible names on the line-up as well as him giggling away with pals,” a source told the Sun when his name was announced.

Tom Daley

The Olympian diver is an odd choice for the show, especially when you consider he’s not taken part in many reality TV shows before. Having turned down Strictly Come Dancing and I’m A Celebrity, he will nevertheless be arriving in Inverness for two weeks of drama.

Joe Marler

Joe Marler is one of English rugby’s most famous names: he won the Six Nations three times with England. And according to insiders, he’s also keen to prove that he’s more than a sportsperson.

Nick Mohammed

Eagle-eyed viewers will recognise Mohammed from the Apple TV+ show Ted Lasso, where he played Nate Shelley.

David Olusoga

Olusoga is a historian and TV presenter, who has fronted countless documentaries and written tens of history books. In 2019, he was awarded an OBE – and most recently, he worked on Disney+ show A Thousand Blows as an executive producer and historical advisor.

Niko Omilana

YouTube star Niko Omilana is running for London mayor

Beta Squad star and YouTube prankster Niko Omilana ran for Parliament as an independent in last year’s general election – and ran in the London Mayoral Election in 2021, winning 2 per cent of the vote.

"We did it for the vibes and we've engaged young people,” he said at the time. “We've shown that young people need to be represented."

Mark Bonnar

ITV

Mark Bonnar played DCC Mike Dryden in the hit BBC show Line of Duty – as well as making appearances in Shetland and Guilt.

Jonathan Ross

A name that’s been floating around for a while. An ITV talk show host and broadcaster, this is Ross’s first return to the BBC in 14 years after he stepped down from his BBC Radio 2 show.

Clare Balding

Another person who’s taking the reality TV plunge: BBC sports presenter Clare Balding turned down all other offers before this one.

Insiders told the Sun that the signing was genius: “no one really believes that the Beeb’s dependable, sensible face of sport could be a treacherous liar”.

Cat Burns

One of three musicians on the show – Burns is a Brit Award nominated singer and Traitors super-fan, who often posts about it on TikTok.

Paloma Faith

Yep, pop star Paloma Faith will also be taking part. Like many other cast members, she’s never appeared on reality TV before, but it seems like the lure of the Traitors was too strong.

Celia Imrie

Another surprise signing: Imrie, of course, has appeared in countless TV shows and films throughout the years, including Bridget Jones’ Diary, Mamma Mia and Calendar Girls. Apparently, she’s also very keen to get stuck in.

Charlotte Church

Classically trained singer Charlotte Church shot to fame as a teenager, before stepping back out of the spotlight to open a wellness retreat in Wales. Now, she’s heading into the world of reality TV.

Kate Garraway (Ian West/PA)

Good Morning Britain host Garraway has had a very tough few years. In 2024, she appeared in a documentary about her husband, Derek Draper, who suffered from long Covid. Garraway was his carer until he died last year.

Lucy Beaumont

Lucy Beaumont is another comedian. Previously married to Jon Richardson – with whom she appeared in several shows – she’s now striking out solo.

Tameka Empson

Tameka is best known for playing Kim Fox in the soap EastEnders – and will presumably be putting her acting skills to use to ace the competition here.

Joe Wilkinson

Joe Wilkinson is a veteran of the British comedy circuit. He’s appeared on 8 Out of 10 Cats, Have I Got News for You and Prime Video series Last One Laughing – and also happens to be friends with Paul Gorton, aka one of the Traitors from season two.

Ruth Codd

Codd is an Irish actor who first broke through as Anya in the Netflix thriller The Midnight Club, back in 2022. She worked as a make up artist and barber before becoming a TikTok star, and she’ll be making her film this summer in the live-action remake of How To Train Your Dragon.
