But with Kyogo Furuhashi’s £10m move to Rennes poised to go through in the next few days, Celtic will once again tempt Brondby with a new offer.
Kvistgaarden is also on the radar of Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt so Brondby want to hold out for top dollar.
But the player himself has told his club he plans to move on either in this window or in the summer, so the Danes’ hand will be forced.
Kyogo’s imminent move to France means Rodgers has to get an additional striker in before the end of the window.
And with Celtic now safely through to the knockout stages of the Champions League, there is more money in the coffers on top of the fee banked for the Japanese striker.
Kvistgaarden, who has ten goals in 15 games this season already, was eager to move to Scotland before and is believed to still be keen on the switch now.
So Celtic are ready to ramp up their interest once again in the hope of getting a deal done at the third attempt.
