Chrissy Teigen Slams Trump’s ‘Disgusting’ White House for Attacking Selena Gomez After She Cried Over Deportations: ‘F—ing Preposterous’
Chrissy Teigen says it's "disgusting" that Trump's White House released a video attacking Selena Gomez for crying over deportations.
Chrissy Teigen took aim at Donald Trump‘s White House when asked about a video the administration released that targeted Selena Gomez, who went viral last month after posting an Instagram video in which she filmed herself crying over deportations of undocumented immigrants by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
“I love her. Empathy should never be frowned upon or made fun of,” Teigen said when asked by TMZ. “The fact that the White House has enough time to even make a statement or a video about it is fucking preposterous and disgusting and lame and loser behavior.”
While Gomez deleted her crying video from Instagram within hours after drawing criticism from conservative figures (she responded to the backlash in a follow-up post that read: “Apparently it’s not ok to show empathy for people”), Trump’s White House proceeded to release a response video titled “Moms of Victims of Illegal Aliens SLAM Selena Gomez: You Didn’t Cry for Our Daughters.” The video spliced together footage of Gomez crying with interviews from three women whose children were allegedly killed by undocumented people.

“I just wanted to say that I’m so sorry,” Gomez said in her Instagram Story video. “All my people are getting attacked, the children. I don’t understand. I’m so sorry. I wish I could do something but I can’t. I don’t know what to do. I’ll try everything, I promise.”
“Seeing that video, it’s actually hard to believe that it’s genuine and real, because she’s an actress,” Alexis Nungaray fired back in the White House’s video. Tammy Nobles added, “I am so happy that Trump won. I’m so glad that this is one of the first bills to help with immigration.” (The bill itself is not named in the video.)
In the weeks since Trump has taken office, he has emphasized his campaign promise of targeting undocumented immigrants in the U.S. with mass deportations. He signed into law the Laken Riley Act, designed to institute stricter penalties on undocumented immigrants who commit crimes in the U.S.
