Coldplay announce 'A Film For The Future' project, a visual companion to 'Moon Music'
The band are set to embark on a UK tour this summer

Coldplay have announced a visual accompaniment to their latest album âMoon Musicâ, entitled A Film For The Future.
The film, which was created by over 150 different visual artists from 45 countries, has been described by the projectâs executive producer Ben Mor as âa kaleidoscopic patchwork quilt â a 44-minute multimedia tapestry.â You can watch a trailer below.
Each artist was given a handful of music snippets from âMoon Musicâ and asked to create corresponding visuals, according to a press release. There were no rules or guidelines, and no knowledge of other artistsâ creations.
The film will premiere worldwide on YouTube on January 22, with special 360-degree screenings also taking place at Lightroom venues in London, Manchester and Seoul â tickets can purchased here. A fan-led remix site for the film, powered by Microsoft AI, will also launch here on January 22.

Mor, who also directed Coldplay and BeyoncĂŠ in 2016âs âHymn For The Weekendâ video, said of the new project: âIt was a huge privilege to have the birdâs eye view of such an ambitious project, working with so many incredible animators and filmmakers all working independently of each other. The final film is simply jaw-dropping and I canât wait for Coldplayâs fans to see it.â

A Film For The Future was first teased on a car numberplate in the artwork for Coldplayâs 2019 album âEveryday Lifeâ, with a section of the project also appearing in July 2024 as the lyric video for the bandâs single âfeelslikeimfallinginloveâ.
Elsewhere, their âMusic Of The Spheresâ tour recently became the biggest rock tour of all time with the band recently continuing their jaunt in Asia.

Meanwhile, frontman Chris Martin previously revealed to NME in 2021 that Coldplay would be wrapping things up with a final album in 2025. Later, he elaborated on his comments, revealing his plan for the bandâs catalogue to end after 12 albums.
Then, speaking to NME an exclusive interview last year, he shared more details and explained how the end of the bandâs time writing new music is fast approaching. He said at the time: âRight now, and since about 2008, if something lands in me as a song or as a good idea and it feels authentic, weâll do it. It doesnât matter what anybody else thinks,â he said, explaining where the band are at now.
âIt is 12 albums for sure, but weâre going to be a bit later than that. Thereâs one more thing, which is a musical. [Thatâs] album number 11, but that might have to come out after album 12 because of how long musicals take to animate.
âOur last single is on this album, and thatâs called âAll My Loveâ. Thatâs the last âsingleâ single. We have the musical thing, then an album just called âColdplayâ, which is the final one. I think that will be a year late â I know it will be.â
, a woman known as the âwitchâ who was chased away from a village after all the men who fell in love with her died, and Dong Jin (GOT7âs Jinyoung), a man who tries to rescue her from the mysterious pattern of death.
Roh Jeong Eui plays Mi Jung, a mysterious woman labeled as a âwitchâ who has cut ties with the world around her. Since childhood, she has been shadowed by death and misfortune as every man who fell in love with her has ended up hurt or dead. Overwhelmed by this stigma, Mi Jung hides away from the world.
The newly unveiled stills capture Mi Jungâs haunting solitude. Clad in all-black attire with her hat pulled low, she exudes an air of defensiveness, warding off anyone who might approach. Yet, her wistful gaze at the falling snowflakes reveals a longing to break free from her isolation and reconnect with the world.
Director Kim Tae Kyun praised Roh Jeong Eui's portrayal, highlighting her perfect synchronization with the character. The director remarked, âWhen the casting meeting with Roh Jeong Eui was first arranged, it felt like Mi Jung herself had walked into the room. During the test shoot, she immersed herself so deeply in the role that not just me but the entire staff exclaimed, âItâs Mi Jung!â That's how much she [perfectly] embodies the character.â
âThe Witchâ will premiere on February 15 at 9:10 p.m. KST following the conclusion of âCheck in Hanyang.â Stay tuned!
