Conor McGregor told he will face 'fight to the death' if rival sees him again
Conor McGregor has not fought since breaking his leg in the summer of 2021
Dustin Poirier has warned Conor McGregor that he will face a 'fight to the death' if the rivals ever run into one another again.
The Louisiana native holds two victories over McGregor from their three meetings in the Octagon and was the last man to face the Dubliner back in the summer of 2021, when the former two-weight champion suffered a horror leg break.
McGregor has not fought since suffering that injury and Poirier admits he is losing hope of ever seeing the 36-year-old in action again.
âYour guess is as good as mine,â he told talkSPORT. âI was hopeful at first. I was like: âIf anybody can come back from this injury itâs going to be this guyâ.
âHeâs got a strong mind, but the further it gets from that after those fights keep falling apart when he announces them.
âIâm losing hope. And he had a great matchup, I think Michael Chandler was an incredible matchup for his return.â

The build-up to Poirier's trilogy fight with McGregor saw the Dubliner exchange plenty of insults with the American and 'The Diamond' admits he is not a fan of the Irishman "as a human being".

When asked if he gets on with McGregor, Poirier said: âNo, of course not. We will fight to the death if I see himâŚI donât respect him as a man.
âAs an athlete and a fighter, heâs done some incredible things. Heâs very gifted and is special in that way when it comes to combat, but as a human being? Nah.â
