ITV Coronation Street cast member Shelley King has spoken out on her exit from the soap as Yasmeen Nazir, and it seems she has hinted that she may return in the future
Coronation Street's Shelley King, who brought to life Yasmeen Nazir since 2014, has sparked speculation that her departure from the cobbles might not be as final as fans feared. .

"Hello everybody, Yasmeen here. Or I'm also known as Shelley King, but Yasmeen has been my name for the last ten and a half years in this glorious street. And I'm so privileged to be living in number six. I've had the most wonderful time," said Shelley, recording from inside her character's popular eatery.

‌
With an emotional tone, she expressed her sorrow about leaving the show. "I'm very, very sad to be leaving. I just felt I'd have to try going back to the stage maybe, try to refresh Yasmeen. We're very close, Yas and I, so - as you probably know - Yas is going to do other things."
Continuing the theme of new beginnings, Shelley King hinted at both she and her character venturing into fresh territory: "She will not say goodbye. She will say as the French do, 'à bientôt,' which means 'see you soon.' Somewhere, somehow.", reports the Mirror.
‌
Fans, noticing the implication of her words, expressed hope in the comments for Yasmeen's eventual comeback. One follower remarked: "I hope you will return sometime in the future. I've enjoyed watching Yasmeen. Good luck.
"All the best for the future Shelley, you will be so missed," said one fan, while another added: "This woman is actually a real inspiration. I wish her all the best for the future."
Following the confirmation of Shelley's departure, an insider revealed to The Sun: "This will be another blow for fans of the show, as Yasmeen is a much-loved character who's part of the fabric of Corrie.
‌
"She's had some huge storylines since she joined the soap in 2014, and she'll be sorely missed by cast and crew. It's understood she is leaving so she can explore other projects."
Despite the disappointment over Shelley's exit, it seems to be part of a larger pattern with several main cast members either leaving or being let go. Sources suggest that Coronation Street is grappling with budgetary constraints. It's reported that beloved characters are being cut to make room for new, younger talent who command lower salaries.
Shelley's name is now listed alongside Sue Cleaver, known for her role as Eileen Grimshaw, and Colson Smith, who portrays Craig Tinker, as one of the prominent figures departing from the series this year.

While there is some concern among viewers, a source from Coronation Street assured the Mirror: "Corrie's vision for the future on the show has secured its place on screens for years to come. Fans can ignore any idea that within a decade the soap will be gone, because it's in no way on the brink of collapse."
