Corrie's Colson Smith shares 'hardest bit' about being axed from ITV soap
The Craig Tinker actor shared his co-star Jack P Shepherd and Ben Price's reaction after he was told the brutal news
Coronation Street actor Colson Smith revealed the heartbreaking reaction of his close co-stars Jack P Shepherd and Ben Price after he was told he was leaving the show. The Craig Tinker actor recently announced he is leaving Coronation Street after 14 years.
Posting an image of his character outside of the Rovers Return wearing his police uniform, he wrote: "Autumn last year I was told that Craig Tinker's time on the Cobbles is to come to end in 2025. I’ve LOVED every single second of my 14 year stay as a resident on the GREATEST street in the world."
Colson, who hosts the On The Sofa podcast with Jack, who plays David Platt, and Ben, who plays Nick Tilsley, spoke on the podcast about the moment he was told his time on the show was up. He revealed he had been in a 'teary state' and was comforted by the pair.

Colson said: "The hardest bit was walking down the stairs knowing you two were there." Jack, looking upset, replied: "Yeah that's so awful."
Colson continued: "I just stood in the doorway of the green room didn't it, and I looked at you two." Ben interjected: "Jack actually gave you a hug."
Laughing, Colson continued: "So this was the funniest part, and I think even in my teary state part of me went 'what the f*** is going on?' As I'm hugging Ben, there's a TV that is on the wall mounted in the green room and it was turned off.
"And I just saw the reflection of little Jack hugging my waist. We had a hug and then I went 'Can we go to Nando's?'"
Ben added: "Whatever you want son, whatever you want." Colson has spoken of leaving the UK after his exit from the soap.
He said he wants to travel, with a trip to Kenya on the cards. Aside from his solo plans, he is set to star in a live show alongside his Jack and Ben later this year.
