Corrie's Julie hiding 'secret' as reason for Weatherfield return 'confirmed'
It was confirmed in January that the character would be returning to Weatherfield and actress Katy Cavanagh has shared more details
Julie Carp will be hiding a 'secret' as more details about her return to Coronation Street have been revealed. It was confirmed in January that the character would be returning to Weatherfield, with the role being reprised by actress Katy Cavanagh.
Julie first arrived in Weatherfield in 2008 after a holiday romance with Kirk Sutherland. The relationship didn’t work out and when Julie set her sights on Jason Grimshaw her mum was forced to tell her that she was in fact Eileen’s half sister and Jason’s aunt.
After a brief fling with Eileen’s then boyfriend Jessie Chadwick, Julie found love with Newsagent Brian Packham and they left the street together in 2015. But they split and Brian eventually returned without her.
But next week, Corrie spoilers have revealed that Todd Grimshaw will be the first to see Julie. After Debbie Webster hands out flyers to Todd and Billy Mayhew for a tea dance for singles at the hotel. After some convincing to get Billy to go, he and Todd attend.
However, when a couple of men offer to buy them drinks, Billy hurries out. As George Shuttleworth berates Todd for dragging Billy along, Todd’s distracted as he catches sight of someone - Todd sees Julie. Why is Julie back?
Speaking about the scenes, Katy revealed: "It is a real shock for her [Julie] to see Todd. For reasons she is keeping to herself she is frightened to meet any of her family. She is very good at running away and sugar coating things but there is a lot of denial going on."

Despite that, Julie ends up sticking around. Asked why that is, the soap star revealed: "Seeing Todd at the hotel really, brings it home. Really, kind of makes her have to face up to the reality of her life which is really, really tough. I think, for anybody to have to do that, it's a very brave thing to have to do, yeah, absolutely.
"Todd is lovely to her, she and Todd always had a great relationship and she's not realized how loved she is. I don't think she's got the highest self esteem in the world. I think she sort of is a bit shocked that people love her as much as they do, and that they want her, and that they want to take care of her, and it sort of overwhelms her. She sort of exists in her own little world, and doesn't think anyone will care that much and I think that's what stops her in her tracks and realise she needs to be with those people."
And as for what can viewers expect from Julie's return, Katy teased: "They will see the same old fun loving Julie wearing her rose tinted spectacles but it quickly becomes clear that she is keeping a secret from her family and friends and not is all it seems."
